AEW Dynamite: Live Updates, Match Results, Highlights and Reaction from April 19
April 19, 2023
Welcome to Bleacher Report's live blog for AEW Dynamite on April 19.
With Double or Nothing just over a month away on May 28, All Elite Wrestling has started building up some of the feuds that will lead to matches on the card.
One of those feuds is the ongoing rivalry between The Outcasts and the duo of Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter. Ruby Soho and Toni Storm stepped up to face The Doctor and the AEW women's champion this week.
We are going to be doing things a bit different moving forward. Erik Beaston will still have you covered with the regular recap and grades, and this will be a space for a more detailed description of what happened during each match and segment.
The latest segment and match will be listed at the top of the page, so refresh throughout the show for more updated results. Make sure you're viewing this article on the Bleacher Report website or app and refreshing the page every few minutes.
Sammy Guevara vs. Jack Perry
The main event of the night was the first match in the Pillars Tournament between Guevara and Perry. Earlier in the show, MJF gave The Spanish God a blank check to ensure he won the match.
The Spanish God was knocked out of the ring with a dropkick and hit with a suicide dive as soon as the bell rang. He ended up hitting his own dive, but Perry followed up with a hurricanrana a moment later.
Sammy hit a beautiful Spanish Fly from the top rope, and both men struggled to beat the count to their feet. He hit another one off the apron to send us into a break.
MJF was shown cheering on Guevara from backstage as Perry began to make a comeback. He powerbombed Guevara into the apron and hit a ridiculous Canadian destroyer from the top rope for a two-count.
Guevara set up for the GTH, but Perry countered and hit a reverse hurricanrana.
The Spanish God hit the same move a moment later, and Jungle Boy nailed him with an elbow strike as soon as he got up.
Perry locked him in the Snare Trap, but Guevara made it to the bottom rope. Guevara dropkicked Perry off the top rope onto the timekeeper's table. The landing looked rough because he didn't hit the table in the middle. He was going to beat the count, but Guevara distracted the ref so MJF could hit Jungle Boy with his diamond ring.
Perry was counted out and Guevara was declared the winner. He and MJF hugged after the match was over, and the champ lifted his potential future challenger up on his shoulders.
Winner: Sammy Guevara
The show ended with Allin looking down from the rafters as his rivals celebrated together.
The Jericho Appreciation Society vs. The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn
Connor Casey @ConnorCaseyCBThis week has been making a strong argument for intergender wrestling <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/WWERaw?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#WWERaw</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/AEWDynamite?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#AEWDynamite</a> <a href="https://t.co/XvKdzg30rP">pic.twitter.com/XvKdzg30rP</a>
Matt Menard, Jake Hager and Angelo Parker were out first to battle The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn. Max Caster's rap had to be censored.
The JAS attacked them as soon as they entered the ring, but Caster, Gunn and Anthony Bowens quickly turned things around. They kept Parker isolated with some quick tags and double-team moves.
We returned from a break to see Gunn and Hager trading power moves. Daddy Ass almost hit his finisher, but Hager picked him up for a slam to get a two-count.
Bowens and Menard tagged in and started throwing hands. Parker nailed Bowens with his switchblade comb, but it wasn't able to end the match.
Gunn took it from him and broke it before Bowens and Caster finished Cool Hand Ang off with the Mic Drop.
Winners: The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn
Adam Cole and Chris Jericho Trade Words
All Elite Wrestling @AEW"I really want to say from the bottom of my heart, that I have zero respect for you."<a href="https://twitter.com/IAmJericho?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@IAmJericho</a> lets <a href="https://twitter.com/AdamColePro?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@adamcolepro</a> know how he really feels<br><br>Watch <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/AEWDynamite?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#AEWDynamite</a> LIVE on TBS! <a href="https://t.co/sntejKORRx">pic.twitter.com/sntejKORRx</a>
Chris Jericho and Adam Cole came out to have their showdown this week, but it started with the latter talking about how much respect he has for the former and what a big influence he has been on his career. They even shook hands.
Then Jericho said he has zero respect for Cole and criticized him for interrupting his celebration last week. Cole called him names and mocked the JAS.
It eventually broke down into a fight. Cole had the upper hand until Daniel Garcia ran down to save his mentor. They stomped Cole in the corner until Baker arrived to help her husband.
The Outcasts attacked Baker while Jericho cuffed Cole to the bottom rope. He prepared to hit Cole with a kendo stick but instead handed it to Saraya so Cole had to watch his real-life partner get hit several times.
Komander vs. Jay White
TDE Wrestling @tde_gifSensational <a href="https://twitter.com/KomandercrMX?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@KomandercrMX</a>! <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/AEWDynamite?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#AEWDynamite</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/AEWonTBS?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#AEWonTBS</a> <a href="https://t.co/eH3uRWm0YQ">pic.twitter.com/eH3uRWm0YQ</a>
Two of AEW's newest signings were in action against each other when Jay White took on the high-flying Komander. Juice Robinson accompanied White to the ring.
This was an aggressive fight from the moment the ref called for the bell. Komander had a little hiccup during a springboard move but managed to recover and turn it into something even more impressive.
White avoided a moonsault at ringside and dropped Komander on the apron to send us into a commercial break.
Raphael Garcia @RGarcia_SportsFor the past few years, I would write about Jay White and there were a few people who said they didn't "get" why people liked him and his pieces did numbers. <br><br>They are gonna find out with this AEW run. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/AEWDynamite?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#AEWDynamite</a>
We returned to see White firmly in control of the match. He had a decent size advantage, so he was taking the rare opportunity to use his power to control his opponent.
Komander hit a kick to knock White down from the top turnbuckle to the floor. He climbed to the top rope and ran across it to hit a dive onto the former IWGP champion.
This entire match was one big highlight reel, so you should take the time to see all of the spots we didn't have room to mention.
After regaining his composure, White hit Komander with his finisher to score the win.
Winner: Jay White
Shawn Spears was sitting in the crowd, but Robinson attacked him and pulled him into the ring. He tried to fight off White and Juice until Ricky Starks ran down to make the save.
Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Wardlow (TNT Championship)
Wardlow recruited Arn Anderson to be in his corner for his TNT title match against Powerhouse Hobbs, who had the crew from QTV in his corner.
Hobbs ended up hitting three belly-to-belly suplexes in a row to get things going, but Wardlow quickly recovered and shoved him right out of the ring. He clotheslined the champ over the barricade and followed him into the crowd.

We returned to see Wardlow hit a huge swanton bomb. He started to build up a head of steam as he began hitting various strikes and power moves. Hobbs countered a suplex but took a headbutt to the face.
QT Marshall hit a Diamond Cutter while the ref was distracted, but The Wardaddy managed to kick out. Anderson came in to kick Marshall out of the ring by pretending to point a gun at him. Penta arrived and kicked Marshall back into the ring so Double A could hit him with a DDT.
Wardlow hit a couple of powerbombs as he began to conduct his symphony. He hit a third to get the pin and regain the TNT Championship.
Winner: Wardlow
Christian Cage and Luchasaurus came out and stood on the stage to indicate they will be chasing the title next.

We Hear From The Elite
Kenny Omega, Nick and Matt Jackson were out after the break to talk about what has been going on between them and the Blackpool Combat Club.
Omega called BCC four of the most respected wrestlers on the planet until they attacked his friends and put them in the hospital. It didn't take long for Bryan Danielson to interrupt from the big screen.
He distracted them while Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta attacked them from behind to kick off a huge brawl. The Elite ended up getting the upper hand for a little while, but the BCC regained control and took out the three men one at a time.
Don Callis came out with a chair, but once he saw what was happening, he dropped it and ran away as Danielson continued to run down The Elite on the mic.
Callis returned with Konosuke Takeshita, who managed to save Omega from being attacked with a screwdriver.
The Outcasts vs. Jamie Hayter and Britt Baker

Saraya got into a tussle with Baker's mom as she accompanied Toni Storm and Ruby Soho to the ring for this tag team match.
Hayter was out first to a huge pop, and Baker followed with an equally big reaction from her hometown crowd in Pittsburgh.
Storm and Soho attacked them on the ramp, but as soon as they got to the ring, Hayter used her power to take Storm down with a few shoulder tackles.
This match was pure mayhem for the first several minutes. Nobody was abiding by tags and the fight was taking place in and out of the ring.
Even though Saraya gave The Outcasts an advantage, Soho and Storm were doing a good job controlling the pace without any help.
𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐕𝐞𝐧 @WrestlingCoversRun, <a href="https://twitter.com/Saraya?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@Saraya</a>, run!! 🤣 <a href="https://twitter.com/jmehytr?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@jmehytr</a> is taking over. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/AEWDynamite?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#AEWDynamite</a> <a href="https://t.co/oMcPia0XDA">pic.twitter.com/oMcPia0XDA</a>
We returned from a break to see Baker starting to go on a roll as her hometown crowd cheered her on. She singlehandedly took out Soho and Storm in the corner while Hayter was recovering at ringside.
She pulled out the glove and signaled for The Lockjaw, but Storm grabbed her for a German suplex. Hayter and Baker hit a series of double-team moves, but Soho managed to break up the pin at the last second.
Saraya hit Hayter in the head with the title belt while the ref was distracted, but it wasn't enough to get Storm the pin, even with her finisher on top of the belt shot. Storm took Hayter out at ringside by throwing her into the ring steps.
Baker hit Soho with a Panama Sunrise for a close two-count, but she was able to get the submission win a moment later with The Lockjaw.
Winners: Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter
Jungle Boy Speaks
AEW on TV @AEWonTVThis crowd is vibing with <a href="https://twitter.com/boy_myth_legend?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@boy_myth_legend</a> to start <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/AEWDynamite?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#AEWDynamite</a> <a href="https://t.co/bvgJPOteb3">pic.twitter.com/bvgJPOteb3</a>
Dynamite opened with Jack Perry making his way to the ring for a promo. The crowd continued to sing his entrance music for a few moments after it stopped playing. Before he could even get two words out of his mouth, Sammy Guevara came out.
They were quickly joined by Darby Allin. He ended up being the first one to get more than half a sentence out successfully. He talked a little trash about both men before Perry had a chance to speak his mind.
He said all of the kids who paint their faces like Allin would be upset if they knew what he was really like and claimed he was only a wrestler because he couldn't make it in skateboarding.
All three had a chance to run the others down for a couple of minutes. Surprisingly, Guevara had the nicest things to say about the others, but he still insulted them at the same time.
MJF arrived and said he talked to Tony Khan about this whole situation, and there will be a Pillars Tournament with the winner earning a title shot at Double or Nothing. He said one man would get a bye in the first round and picked Allin's name out of a hat.
That means Perry vs. Guevara will happen tonight, with Allin facing the winner for the title shot in the future.
