Breeders' Cup 2023 Results: Tracking Winners and Prize Money Payouts on Saturday

The second day of Breeders' Cup action is underway from Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California.

Cody's Wish kicked off Saturday's festivities with a win in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile, the first of nine races.

Here's a look at all the results from Saturday's action as they arrive.

Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile ($1,000,000 Purse)

Win: Cody's Wish

Place: National Treasure

Show: Skippylongstocking

Cody's Wish is now a two-time Dirt Mile champion after engineering a tremendous comeback victory. The heavy pre-race favorite fell behind early as National Treasure paced the field, and it looked as if the leader would win this one. However, Cody's Wish charged hard down the stretch and barely edged out National Treasure for the win.

Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf ($2 Million Purse)

Win: Inspiral

Place: Warm Heart

Show: Moira

Inspiral came out of nowhere on the outside to overtake Warm Heart and win the Filly & Mare Turf down the stretch.

The leaders were all bunched up down the stretch, with no one having any extended lead. Warm Heart got ahead by about a length on the field for a brief moment, but Inspiral charged hard down the stretch for a tremendous win.

Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint ($1 Million Purse)

Win: Goodnight Olive

Place: Yuugiri

Show: Three Witches

Goodnight Olive said good night to the field with a great performance that resulted in a win of nearly three lengths. The prerace favorite entered the race with even odds and rewarded bettors with a powerful run that saw her take a huge lead after the final turn. The field closed in a bit near the end but not enough to seriously challenge the victor.

Breeders' Cup Mile ($2 Million Purse)

Win: Master of the Seas

Place: Mawj

Show: Casa Creed

Master of the Seas found an outside lane down the stretch and sprinted to the finish line in first by a nose over Mawj.

This was a closely contested race down the stretch with numerous candidates for victory. Mawj appeared to have this won despite a host of competitors right behind, but Master of the Seas emerged victorious with a fantastic finish.

Breeders' Cup Distaff ($2 Million Purse)

Win: Idiomatic

Place: Randomized

Show: Le Da Vida

Another pre-race favorite found the winner's circle Saturday as Idiomatic took home the victory despite a great race from Randomized and a late charge by Le Da Vida.

Idiomatic and Randomized paced the field, but the former horse took control down the stretch for the well-earned victory.

Breeders' Cup Turf ($4 Million Purse)

Win: Auguste Rodin

Place: Up To The Mark

Show: Shahryar

Auguste Rodin snuck through the lead pack on the inside rail before the final turn and found nothing but daylight from there en route to a well-earned victory.

Up to the Mark and Shahryar weren't too far behind, but neither seriously challenged Auguste Rodin's win, which came by a length.

Breeders' Cup Classic ($6 Million Purse)

Win: White Abarrio

Place: Derma Sotogake

Show: Proxy

Yet again, another prerace favorite earned the victory at the Breeders' Cup. This time, it was White Abarrio in the Breeders' Cup Classic, the weekend's main event. White Abarrio ran third behind Arabian Knight and Saudi Crown for much of the race with Derma Sotogake in fourth. But White Abarrio took control down the stretch and defeated Derma Sotogake by a length.

Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint

Win: Nobals

Place: Big Invasion

Show: Aesop's Fables

One of the best races of the day occurred near the end of Saturday's festivities. Nobals charged hard on the inside rail down the stretch and appeared to have this race won with ease, but Big Invasion made a triumphant effort as well. Meanwhile, Aesop's Fables gave a good effort as well from the outside. However, Nobals held on by a head.

Breeders' Cup Sprint

Win: Elite Power

Place: Gunite

Show: Nakatomi

As has been the case for much of the day, a prerace favorite found themselves in the winner's circle once again. This time it was Elite Power, who found a lane on the outside and sprinted home for the win. Credit should go to 25-1 long shot Nakatomi, however, for a race well run en route to third.
