Week 15 NFL action brought about both official playoff eliminations and clinched playoff berths for the first time in the 2023 season.

The Dallas Cowboys, despite an embarrassing loss to the Buffalo Bills, and the San Francisco 49ers are in for the NFC while the New England Patriots, New York Jets and Tennessee Titans joined the Carolina Panthers in the eliminated ranks of their respective conferences.

Every week of the season, we'll assess the state of each roster with a particular focus on its weaknesses. By the end of the campaign, we'll have built a big board for every team based on its biggest needs and wants. Everything from immediate holes to fill to the offseason player carousel of free agency and the 2024 NFL draft is taken into account.

The weaknesses here are not just knee-jerk reactions to the weekend's games, but more an overarching assessment with both present and future roster-building in mind.

All AFC teams are scouted by Alex Ballentine, and all NFC teams are scouted by Matt Holder.

Some of these players, particularly the draft prospects, have been highlighted in more detail and you can also see where the top draft prospects rank in B/R's NFL Draft Scouting Dept.'s latest big board.

Further analysis of every NFL roster will publish each Monday throughout the regular season.

Arizona Cardinals

1 of 32

The rest of this season for the Arizona Cardinals is about building for the future. So, while the game against San Francisco wasn't competitive, a strong performance from a young player like Trey McBride against an elite defense is encouraging for Arizona. The team still has plenty of issues to work out, but they have a playmaker at tight end.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Defensive Tackle
    2. Cornerback
    3. Center
    4. Wide Receiver
    5. Offensive Tackle

    Add Now: S Verone McKinley

The rest of the Cardinals' season is all about building for the future and that means acquiring as much young talent as possible. McKinley was recently released from the Dolphins' practice squad and doesn't turn 24 until late June, so it'd be worth it to bring him in for a few weeks and see if he's good enough to earn a reserve/future contract.

Plus, Budda Baker's contract has a club option in the offseason and the deal expires at the end of 2024, per Spotrac, meaning it'd be smart to look into as many safeties as possible.

2024 Free Agency: CB Ahkello Witherspoon, Los Angeles Rams

It's been well-documented that Arizona is going to need cornerbacks in the spring, and more specifically, it could use someone who can make plays on the ball in the air. Heading into this weekend, Antonio Hamilton led the position group with five passes defended and tied for the most interceptions with just one.

Meanwhile, Witherspoon has shown great ball skills throughout his career and had 11 PBUs to go along with three picks through the Rams' first 13 games of the year. While the soon-to-be 29-year-old won't be the youngest player on the market, he's still under 30 and could provide some veteran leadership to a position group that currently has three rookies.

2024 NFL Draft: WR Keon Coleman, Florida State

Wide receiver also projects to be one of the Cardinals' biggest offseason needs and they could use a big-bodied contested-catch threat like Coleman, who is the prototypical throwback X receiver, according to B/R NFL draft scout Derrik Klassen.

"Physicality and ball skills are the name of the game for Coleman," Klassen explained. "At 6'4" and 215 pounds, he always has his way with defensive backs. He excels at fighting through press at the line of scrimmage, as well as using his length and strength to buy space at the top of route breaks. Coleman is even a pretty chippy blocker.

"... When it comes time to get vertical, Coleman knows exactly how to track and pluck the ball at its highest point. He also has the strength to finish and come down with the ball almost every time. He is a real weapon in the red zone and other 'gotta have it' situations."

Atlanta Falcons

2 of 32

Losses don't get much more frustrating than the one the Atlanta Falcons suffered on Sunday. They had a great opportunity to keep pace in the division with a matchup against the worst team in the league and managed to keep Carolina out of the endzone all afternoon.

However, a 17-play, game-winning field goal drive means Atlanta will need some help to win the NFC South and make the playoffs over these next three weeks.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Quarterback
    2. Edge
    3. Strong Safety
    4. Wide Receiver
    5. Left Guard

    Add Now: DL Matt Ioannidis

Kentavius Street was placed on injured reserve this past week, joining Grady Jarrett on the list for the Falcons, and David Onyemata was ruled out for the second game in a row.

So, the Falcons defensive line is getting pretty thin, and it would be smart to sign a veteran like Ioannidis just in case of an emergency. The seven-year pro has been a solid player in the past who can contribute as a run defender and pass-rusher.

2024 Free Agency: EDGE Josh Allen, Jacksonville Jaguars

Adding a high-end edge defender should be one of Atlanta's top priorities this offseason, especially since Bud Dupree is only on a one-year deal. Allen should be one of the Falcons' first targets as he's playing like a Defensive Player of the Year candidate with 13.5 sacks, which was tied for the third-most in the league through Week 14.

He's also been a decent run defender with a solid grade from Pro Football Focus in that department, and he doesn't turn 27 until July. The current Jaguar will likely command a lot of money on the open market, but the Falcons are estimated to have a little more than $36 million in cap space available, per Spotrac, to make this signing happen.

2024 NFL Draft: WR Brian Thomas Jr., LSU

Finding a second wide receiver to pair with Drake London and Kyle Pitts will be another one of the Dirty Birds' biggest needs this spring, and Thomas has some intriguing qualities to be one of the top wideouts in this year's draft class.

"The sell for Brian Thomas Jr. is very simple: big man run fast," B/R NFL draft scout Derrik Klassen said. "Thomas is all of 6'4", 205 pounds, and he's got dangerous speed down the field.

"Thomas' vertical ability is a huge reason LSU is the most explosive team in the country right now. He's more than that, though. Thomas is a fairly smooth mover for his size and he's a natural at tracking the ball in the air, especially over his shoulder on deep passes."

Baltimore Ravens

3 of 32

    Lamar Jackson
    Lamar JacksonCourtney Culbreath/Getty Images

The Baltimore Ravens held steady as the No. 1 seed in the AFC with a huge road win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday Night Football. The Ravens gave a preview of what they could be capable of in the playoffs, shutting down the Jaguars offense and grinding out a win with over 200 yards rushing on offense. Baltimore proved it can be elite on the road, but if the Ravens keep playing like this, they won't have to until the Super Bowl.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Cornerback
    2. Offensive Guard
    3. Wide Receiver
    4. Interior Defender
    5. Running Back

Add Now: WR Tre'Quan Smith, Denver Broncos

Devin Duvernay has been placed on injured reserve for the season with a back injury. The Ravens receiving corps could already use some depth behind Odell Beckham Jr., Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman. Tre'Quan Smith was a stable contributor and touchdown threat (18 career touchdowns) for the Saints from 2018 to 2022, and now he's on the Broncos practice squad.

2024 Free Agency: OL Jermaine Eluemunor, Las Vegas Raiders

Morgan Moses is 32 and Kevin Zeitler is 33 years old. Both are playing really well, but it's hard to count on both continuing to stay healthy and playing at a high level into their mid-30s. Jermaine Eluemunor has been an asset to the Raiders offensive line because of his ability to play both guard and tackle at a reasonable level. Signing Eluemunor would give the Ravens added insurance on the right side of the line and he might even be able to compete with John Simpson for the left guard spot next season.

2024 NFL Draft: CB Terrion Arnold, Alabama

Marlon Humphrey is only 27, but he's had some major injuries. The opposite cornerback spot has been occupied by Brandon Stephens, Ronald Darby and Rock Ya-Sin at different times this season. The Ravens could use a bona fide cornerback prospect who can come in and hold down the job across from Humphrey and be the alpha if he continues to get injured.

Alabama's Terrion Arnold could be a good option if he chooses to declare for the draft. The redshirt sophomore could come back and be in contention for the CB1 designation in next season's class, but he has the goods to potentially be a Day 1 pick this year. Here's Cory Giddings on Arnold:

"Physical defensive back who shows versatility in scheme and position. Makes quick reads and comes up to support the run and screens. Shows very good block destructing ability with strength and plays with the quickness to beat blocks. Lacks desired change-of-direction ability, allowing separation out of breaks, and appears to lack top-end speed."

Buffalo Bills

4 of 32

    James Cook
    James CookLauren Leigh Bacho/Getty Images

The Buffalo Bills put the rest of the AFC on notice in Week 15. With no margin for error in their quest to make the playoffs, they thoroughly beat the Dallas Cowboys 31-10. It wasn't just that they won, though. It was how they did it.

They looked like a team on a mission with 266 rushing yards against a Cowboys defense that hadn't given up 100 yards rushing to anyone this season. Defensively, the Bills got after Dak Prescott with three sacks and seven quarterback hits. It's a recipe for the Bills to continue winning, as they get the Chargers and Patriots before finishing with the Dolphins.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Edge Defender
    2. Wide Receiver
    3. Cornerback
    4. Safety
    5. Interior Defender

Add Now: WR Bo Melton, Green Bay Packers

The Bills might not need a receiver for the final stretch of 2023, but they do have to figure out the receiver room in 2024. With Gabriel Davis set to hit free agency and the Bills looking for more production at the position, they could use another young receiver to get a look at before the offseason.

Bo Melton is a bit undersized at 5'11", 189 pounds, but he runs a 4.34 40-yard dash and has some juice with the ball in his hands. Poaching him from the Packers practice squad would give the Bills a high-upside 24-year-old.

2024 Free Agency: WR Curtis Samuel, Washington Commanders

Stefon Diggs has had a troubling lack of production in the back half of the season. Gabe Davis is set to become a free agent with a spotty history of production himself. The Bills receiver room could be headed toward a makeover in 2024, and Curtis Samuel would be a good addition. His ability to separate on short and intermediate routes while also handling some jet sweeps would give the Bills another dimension to their passing game.

That would take some pressure off both Diggs and Josh Allen, which is what Buffalo needs to be more consistent.

2024 NFL Draft: iOL Jackson Powers-Johnson, Oregon

Mitch Morse has been a solid center, but he's going to be 32 next season and the Bills can save $8.5 million against the cap by releasing him this offseason. It's going to be tough to justify sacrificing quality on the offensive line unless they can find a starting-caliber player in free agency or the draft.

Jackson Powers-Johnson is one of the top centers in the draft class. The 6'3", 320-pounder has allowed just three hurries in three seasons with the Ducks while showing the versatility to play center or guard, per PFF.

Carolina Panthers

5 of 32

    Bryce Young
    Bryce YoungJared C. Tilton/Getty Images

In a season that's been nothing but disappointment, Sunday's win had to feel pretty good for the Carolina Panthers. Obviously, it won't mean much for them in the big picture, but Bryce Young engineering a game-winning drive is a valuable experience for a young quarterback, especially with how this year has gone for Young.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Guard
    2. Wide Receiver
    3. Tight End
    4. Quarterback
    5. Offensive Tackle

    Add Now: EDGE Oshane Ximines

The Panthers are basically just playing the rest of the season out as a formality as their focus is and has been on next year and beyond. With Brian Burns and Yetur Gross-Matos about to hit free agency, they'll be looking for some help on the edge in the offseason, so they could bring Ximines in for the last three weeks of the campaign to see what he's got.

2024 Free Agency: WR Gabe Davis, Buffalo Bills

It's no secret that Carolina is likely going to be looking to improve its receiving corps in the spring. While Adam Thielen has had a good season and is under contract for two more years, the Panthers could use someone who can win down the field.

Davis can bring that element to the offense as he has a career average of 16.4 yards per catch. He's also never had the opportunity to be a No. 1 receiver, playing second fiddle to Stefon Diggs his entire career, so getting to fill that role with the Panthers could be an intriguing option for the 24-year-old.

2024 NFL Draft: S Javon Bullard, Georgia

Jeremy Chinn's contract is about to expire and his role over the last couple of years has primarily been covering the slot. While Bullard might not be able to replace what Chinn can do in the box, the Georgia product could fill the nickelback role as he has experience playing in that spot in college.

"Smooth athletic cover safety who shows to play with good play recognition and reaction," B/R NFL draft scout Cory Giddings said of Bullard. "Very good athlete who has quick feet and a burst out of breaks. Fluid hips and good range as a deep safety.

"Due to lack of size, he can leak extra yards on tackles and lacks ideal tackle security. He is versatile enough to play deep and as a drop-down defender."

Chicago Bears

6 of 32

    Tremaine Edmunds
    Tremaine EdmundsMichael Reaves/Getty Images

Sunday's loss really has to sting for the Chicago Bears. Chicago entered the fourth quarter with a two-possession lead...only to give it up on a two-minute field-goal drive. Then, Darnell Mooney had the win in his hands on a Hail Mary but couldn't secure the catch as the ball popped into the air and was intercepted to make their slim playoff hopes even slimmer.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Wide Receiver
    2. Guard
    3. Quarterback
    4. Center
    5. Cornerback

    Add Now: EDGE Derrek Tuszka

Yannick Ngakoue was placed on injured reserve last week and is an impending free agent, so the Bears could use these next few weeks to bring in someone who could be a potential replacement for Ngakoue. Tuszka is only 26 years old and is the physical, hand-in-the-ground defensive end that Ryan Poles seems to covet at the position.

2024 Free Agency: CB Amik Robertson, Las Vegas Raiders

One of the first offseason decisions that Poles will have to make is what to do with cornerback Jaylon Johnson as Johnson's contract is about to expire and he projects to be one of the top cornerbacks available in free agency. His price tag will likely be very high, and Chicago spent a second-round pick on Tyrique Stevenson last April.

If the Bears opt to let Johnson walk and increase Stevenson's role in year two, they could still use some depth at the position. Robertson would be a good candidate for that as he's made several spot starts for the Raiders over the last couple of years and has the versatility to play in the boundary or over the slot.

He's been solid in that role and has shown the potential to serve as a team's second or third corner. The 25-year-old also shouldn't break the bank in the offseason, giving the organization a cost-efficient solution to replace Johnson.

2024 NFL Draft: QB Caleb Williams, USC

As discussed last week, Justin Fields still has a few opportunities to prove himself this season, but the Bears should still be exploring the quarterbacks in the draft since they'll likely end up with the No. 1 overall pick. Since we went over Drake Maye last time around, it's time to dive into the second-ranked quarterback on B/R's NFL draft big board.

"Caleb Williams is electric, plain and simple," B/R offensive skill positions scout Derrik Klassen said via the USC product's scouting report. "It all starts with arm talent. He doesn't throw with quite the same velocity as Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen or Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, but he can really spin it.

"Williams can also flick the ball 50 yards downfield like it's nothing. Combine that with pretty consistent accuracy across the board, and you've got a scary passer. ... Areas of improvement for Williams mostly come down to consistency.

"Williams is a quality processor, but he sometimes gets in his own way. His affinity for the big play can mean he'll pass up easier opportunities earlier in the down. Additionally, Williams tends to drop back square to the offensive line (which helps him stay on his toes and see). That can disrupt his timing on specific routes because he needs an extra step to gather himself. These are not fatal flaws, but he'll need to improve upon them in the NFL."

Cincinnati Bengals

7 of 32

The Bengals are putting together an improbable run right now. After Joe Burrow's injury, it would have been understandable to write them off. Yet, they just keep coming up with ways to win, and Jake Browning has looked excellent in relief.

Cincinnati did it again with an overtime win against the Minnesota Vikings. Keeping up the pace is going to be difficult, though. Both D.J. Reader and Ja'Marr Chase left the game with injuries. Reader is out for the year, and the Bengals will at least have to work through having their star receiver in a limited capacity.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Interior Defender
    2. Tight End
    3. Wide Receiver
    4. Interior Offensive Line
    5. Running Back

    Add Now: DT Brandon Williams

The Bengals defense took a major hit with D.J. Reader suffering a torn quad that will end his season. The massive nose tackle is key to their run defense and is a veteran leader on the team. Replacing him won't be easy, but giving Brandon Williams a call could help patch up the interior. The 34-year-old played in five games for the Chiefs last season.

At 6'1", 336 pounds, the former Raven could still hold up at the point of attack.

2024 Free Agency: C Tyler Biadasz, Dallas Cowboys

The Bengals can save $6.4 million against the cap by releasing Ted Karras. The center has been a liability in pass protection this season. According to PFF, he had conceded six sacks going into Week 15. It's hard to justify giving $7.4 million to a center who gives up six sacks.

Instead, the Bengals could take the money and offer it to a center like Tyler Biadasz. He has grown in the Cowboys system and has given up half as many sacks through the first 14 weeks of the season.

2024 NFL Draft: WR Ladd McConkey, Georgia

The Bengals have to start figuring out what the receiver room is going to look like with Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd potentially on the way out. Ja'Marr Chase will remain at the center of the offense, but Higgins is going to be hard to retain financially and Boyd could seek a larger role elsewhere.

Drafting a receiver like Ladd McConkey a little later in the draft would give them another young weapon to integrate. McConkey is a precise route-runner with good hands. His consistency could make him a good chain-mover in the NFL, which is something the Bengals need because Chase will provide the explosiveness.

Cleveland Browns

8 of 32

    Joe Flacco

If you had Joe Flacco guiding the Browns to the playoffs down the home stretch on your 2023 bingo card, it might be time to play the lottery. The 38-year-old got off to a rough start against the Bears this week, but he rallied the Browns to a 20-17 win that came down to the wire. Flacco threw for over 300 yards for the second successive week.

All of a sudden the Browns are the fifth seed, have won back-to-back games and have the Texans and Jets on deck.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Wide Receiver
    2. Interior Defensive Line
    3. Edge-Rusher
    4. Running Back
    5. Offensive Tackle

    Add Now: EDGE Carlos Dunlap

The injury bug has been particularly harsh to Cleveland this season. Grant Delpit and Ogbonnia Okoronkwo were added to the list of Browns to have serious injuries this season. Delpit was placed on the injured reserve and Okoronkwo has a pectoral injury that could cost him the rest of the season.

That could send the Browns to the free-agent market to make a desperation move to bring in some pass-rushing depth for the final push to the postseason. Carlos Dunlap could be the answer. He played in 17 games last season and registered four sacks with 12 quarterback hits.

2024 Free Agency: TE Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Chargers

David Njoku has emerged as one of the primary targets in the Browns offense. However, the tight ends behind him have not contributed much. Harrison Bryant and Jordan Akins have offered little as receivers, and their blocking isn't good enough for them to be considered high-end secondary tight ends.

Targeting a veteran like Gerald Everett would give the Browns more flexibility moving forward. He's a good enough pass-catcher to be a threat defenses have to account for and he is a solid blocker. Getting Everett and Njoku on the field together would make the Browns offense better.

2024 NFL Draft: LB Payton Wilson, North Carolina State

The Browns have a lot of talent on defense, but off-ball linebacker is an under-the-radar need that they might want to address. Sione Takitaki, Anthony Walker Jr. and Jacob Phillips are all set to become free agents. They have Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, but adding a young, dynamic linebacker to bring alongside him would be a good idea. Here's Matt Holder on what Payton Wilson brings to the table as a developmental prospect:

"Payton Wilson has good size, frame and speed. The latter helps him in coverage and allows him to crash downhill or go sideline to sideline against the run. He also flies around the field and is very active, leading to some really impressive production. Wilson does need to add some strength to avoid getting pushed around by offensive linemen and his instincts as a run defender aren't great, especially for a sixth-year senior. But the biggest issue with him is he has a long injury history that could scare some teams away."

Dallas Cowboys

9 of 32

A week after celebrating a big win over Philadelphia, the Dallas Cowboys had a bit of a hangover this week as they suffered a letdown in Buffalo. The loss means Dallas will need some help to win the division, but the silver lining from Sunday is that they did officially clinch a playoff spot.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Defensive Tackle
    2. Linebacker
    3. Strong Safety
    4. Right Tackle

    Add Now: G A.J. Cann

Zack Martin suffered a knee injury that forced him to leave the game against the Bills. As of right now, the severity is unknown, but the Cowboys would be smart to at least make the call to Cann just in case Martin can't go.

2024 Free Agency: EDGE Markus Golden, Pittsburgh Steelers

With Dante Fowler Jr. and Dorance Armstrong about to hit free agency, Dallas might be in the market for a third rusher to come off the bench and complement Micah Parsons this offseason. But the Cowboys are estimated to begin the spring at about $13.5 million over the cap, per Spotrac, so the front office will need to find cost-effective solutions.

That makes Golden a good target as he's a 32-year-old veteran who has only been to the playoffs twice. So, he might be willing to take a cheaper deal to play for a Super Bowl contender, and he can contribute as a situational rusher, logging three sacks through Week 14 while playing in that role with the Steelers this season.

2024 NFL Draft: iOL Zach Frazier, West Virginia

With Tyler Biadasz's contract about to expire, the Cowboys might be in the market for a new center during the NFL draft. Frazier could be a good target for them as he currently ranks 22nd overall on B/R's big board and has the potential to start right away.

"Frazier shows a clear understanding of the play's intent, putting himself in good positional leverage with the grip strength to tie up and pin defenders away from the ball," B/R offensive line scout Brandon Thorn said. "He has enough short-area quickness to reach a shade, locate and secure targets on the move as a puller and climbing off combo blocks.

"However, Frazier's average-level athletic ability and length will leave him stranded in space against shifty targets without much twitch to redirect once defenders get on his edges.

"Frazier quarterbacks the line pre-snap, showing a firm command of the calls and adjustments with sharp processing skills to diagnose post-snap. He recognizes basic line games and stunts quickly with the football intelligence to be a force multiplier, picking up late loopers and blitzes with low pads, rooted feet and a firm anchor.

"... Overall, Frazier is an experienced center-only prospect with adequate size, solid athletic ability and very good play strength that he combines with high-level football intelligence and competitive toughness to run the show pre-snap, lead and find ways to get defenders blocked in a variety of schemes. He projects as a long-term, dependable starter at the pivot."

Denver Broncos

10 of 32

The Broncos reached the end of a tough bit of scheduling this week. They played their third consecutive road game on a short week and looked worse for the wear. The Detroit Lions took them to task with a 42-17 win in which they ran the ball at will and were able to shut down the Broncos offense.

Sean Payton's squad went 1-2 in the trio of consecutive road games. The good news is that they have home games against the Patriots and Chargers before finishing the season in Vegas against the Raiders. That's a pretty nice set of games to stick in the playoff race.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Cornerback
    2. Edge-Rusher
    3. Interior Defensive Lineman
    4. Linebacker
    5. Tight End

    Add Now: EDGE Robert Quinn

The Broncos find themselves in the thick of the AFC wild-card hunt, so it would be worth it to get aggressive in maximizing their roster right now. The most glaring need that could be patched is their depth on the outside. Nik Bonitto was held out of this week's game with a knee injury. If that's going to continue to be an issue, getting a veteran outside linebacker who can rush the passer would be a good idea.

Robert Quinn played a small role in the Eagles' push for an NFC championship last season. At 33 years old, he's long past his prime but could have a few more good pass rushes in him that could help the Broncos.

2024 Free Agency: DT D.J. Reader, Cincinnati Bengals

There's a lot to like about the young core the Broncos are putting together on defense, but they could use reinforcements along the defensive line. Mike Purcell came into the week ranked 104th out of 132 interior defenders on PFF and he's 32 years old. Inserting D.J. Reader into the middle of this defense could be a game-changer for their run fits. The 6'3", 335-pound Reader is still excellent at eating up double-teams and keeping his linebackers clean.

He's also just good enough at pass rushing to keep offensive lines honest.

2024 NFL Draft: CB Denzel Burke, Ohio State

Fabian Moreau has stepped up across from Patrick Surtain II, but finding a high-quality cornerback to play across from him should still be on the 2024 offseason checklist. Denzel Burke is one of the best corners in this class and would give the Broncos a versatile cover man to pair with Surtain. Here's an excerpt from Cory Giddings' scouting report on Burke:

"He gives defensive coordinators scheme flexibility and toughness in the run game. He will need to continue work on his man technique to put himself in better position when breaking on the ball, but he has the length and speed desired to cover receivers. Burke will be in the group of first cornerbacks taken off the board."

Detroit Lions

11 of 32

    Sam LaPorta

Saturday's win was just what the Detroit Lions needed.

After several weeks of not playing well and suffering a couple of losses, Detroit flexed its muscles and dominated a surging Denver team. That's some good momentum to build, as the Lions have a tough stretch before the playoffs with two games against the Vikings and a matchup with the Cowboys in Dallas sandwiched in the middle.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Defensive Tackle
    2. Cornerback
    3. Safety
    4. Another Edge-Rusher
    5. Linebacker

    Add Now: No one

While the Lions have been struggling lately, help is on the way. Dan Campbell said C.J. Gardner-Johnson has been medically cleared and started practicing this week, per ESPN's Eric Woodyard. Thus, the team's secondary, which has been one of its biggest issues recently, will get a boost, and it'll need to keep a roster spot open.

2024 Free Agency: iOL Jon Feliciano, San Francisco 49ers

With Jonah Jackson's, Halapoulivaati Vaitai's and Graham Glasgow's contracts about to expire, Detroit is going to need to bring in a few interior offensive linemen in free agency. Feliciano would be a good target, because he has experience playing both guard spots and center and the opportunity to earn a starting job could be enticing for him.

But even if, say, Jackson is retained, the Lions should still look into signing the nine-year veteran in free agency. Worst case, his versatility makes him a decent option as a sixth offensive lineman, fulfilling Glasgow's role as a backup guard and center.

2024 NFL Draft: CB Nate Wiggins, Clemson

Cornerback projects as another position Brad Holmes will likely explore during the spring, as the team has three impending free agents at the position. Even beyond simply filling roster spots, the Lions could use some added talent in the secondary, and Wiggins can bring that as he's currently the No. 6 corner on B/R's NFL draft big board.

"A cornerback with great length but on the thinner side," B/R defensive backs scout Cory Giddings said of the 6'2" and 195-pound Wiggins. "Shows good patience when playing in press and uses his hands and length very well to disrupt receivers at the line of scrimmage.

"However, he plays high at times and shows some hip tightness. Average vision and awareness can lead to him losing leverage in the run game. He also lacks the ideal physicality when taking on blocks and tackling security is questionable."

Green Bay Packers

Two weeks ago, it looked like the Green Bay Packers had figured out their issues and were on the way to earning a wild-card spot. But after back-to-back losses, Green Bay is on the outside looking in and will need to win out to finish above .500. They do have a favorable schedule with matchups against Carolina, Minnesota and Chicago to finish the campaign.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Offensive Line Depth
    2. Cornerback
    3. Tight End
    4. Safety
    5. Wide Receiver

    Add Now: No one

Aaron Jones and Eric Stokes returned to the field this week, and the Packers released Kyu Blu Kelly last week to make room for Stokes' return. Also, Christian Watson's injury doesn't appear to be too serious, so the team doesn't have many pressing needs that can be addressed with a current free agent.

2024 Free Agency: S Kyle Duggar, New England Patriots

Green Bay is going to be in the safety market this offseason, as they have several impending free agents at the position, including key contributors like Darnell Savage, Rudy Ford and Jonathan Owens. While replacing three players with one is impossible, Duggar's versatility is a big reason why he'd be a great fit with the Packers.

The team is going to have a few holes to fill in the secondary, and the four-year veteran has recorded a significant amount of snaps in the box, as a deep safety and over the slot this season.

It also helps that he's played well, earning a good run-defense grade from Pro Football Focus and surrendering an 82.0 passer rating when targeted heading into this weekend.

2024 NFL Draft: RB Braelon Allen, Wisconsin

With A.J. Dillon's contract about to expire, the Cheeseheads will be in the market for a bruiser at running back. They won't have to look far, as Allen could certainly fill that role and currently has a third-round grade on B/R's NFL draft big board.

"Allen is a throwback to a different time in football," B/R offensive skill position scout Derrik Klassen said. "Allen is all of 6'2", 245 pounds and he runs like it. He's a hammer between the tackles, and it's not easy to bring him down with just one tackler unless you chop him down at the ankles like a massive tree.

"Allen is nimbler than he looks, too. He isn't going to shake anyone out of their shoes, but he's rather graceful navigating behind the line of scrimmage. Allen still needs to iron out some of his work on passing downs, but he's such a young player with rushing potential worth investing in."

Houston Texans

We learned two things about the Texans in their 19-16 overtime win against the Titans. C.J. Stroud is really the engine behind this offense, and the defense is good enough to come in clutch.

Stroud missed the game with a concussion, and the offense lacked juice early in the game with Case Keenum at the helm. The veteran was good enough to lead the offense to the game-tying touchdown with just over three minutes left and the game-winning field goal drive in overtime.

The defense gets the kudos for this one, which kept them in a good spot for the wild-card race, by holding the Titans to 66 total rushing yards.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Interior Defensive Lineman
    2. Wide Receiver
    3. Cornerback
    4. Edge Defender
    5. Safety

    Add Now: CB Marcus Peters

The Texans' depth is being tested all over the roster right now. Few teams can claim to have worse injury luck than Houston, as it has multiple starters out of the lineup for either several weeks or the rest of the season. The impact has been particularly bad at cornerback, where Steven Nelson is working through a wrist injury and Tavierre Thomas was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring issue.

Marcus Peters might not be the elite cover man he once was, but he started 12 games for the Raiders this season before they released him.

2024 Free Agency: CB Adoree' Jackson, New York Giants

The Texans have gotten a lot of help from Nelson and Thomas this season, but both are set to hit free agency. It might be difficult to get them both under contract at reasonable deals given their performances. That might leave them in a situation where they need to target another veteran on a one-year deal like Nelson. Adoree' Jackson has struggled with the Giants this season, but Wink Martindale's defense can be difficult for corners.

Coming to Houston would be a mutually beneficial relationship where Jackson can increase his value while filling in at a crucial position for the Texans.

2024 NFL Draft: WR Devontez Walker, North Carolina

C.J. Stroud and Tank Dell are both out with injury, but they've both proven their worth as rookies. Nico Collins only has one year left on his rookie contract, but he's had a strong year as well. The Texans have the bones to create one of the most dynamic offenses in the league if their young talent continues to develop and they build around it.

Drafting Devontez Walker could take the young core over the top. Derrik Klassen calls Walker, "premier speed threat in this draft class" in his scouting report. He's an explosive downfield option who can stretch defenses vertically which will only create more space for Dell to operate underneath.

Indianapolis Colts

After laying an egg against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 14, the Colts got right back into the playoff picture with a strong 30-13 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. While Pittsburgh hasn't been playing well on offense, this was still an encouraging week for the Colts. They dealt with more injuries with Michael Pittman Jr. and Zach Moss both leaving the game. But they got contributions from reserves like Tyler Goodson and Trey Sermon to still have a good day on offense.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Cornerback
    2. Safety
    3. Edge Defender
    4. Tight End
    5. Wide Receiver

Add Now: WR Denzel Mims, Pittsburgh Steelers

Michael Pittman Jr. was ruled out with a concussion, which means he'll likely at least be out for the Colts' next game against the Atlanta Falcons. Pittman is obviously a huge part of their offense, and they don't really have another vertical ball-winner like the former USC star.

Denzel Mims has some of that to his game. At 6'3", 207 pounds, he's a big-bodied receiver who had some success as a deep threat with the Jets. Now he's on the Steelers practice squad and could be poached for the home stretch.

2024 Free Agency: CB Jaylon Johnson, Chicago Bears

The Colts have a lot to be excited about given the success they've had with this roster. There are a lot of good pieces, but the Colts still don't have answers at some crucial positions, including cornerback. Kenny Moore II is a free agent and does his best work in the slot. JuJu Brents has high upside, but it could take a while for him to hit that ceiling.

Getting aggressive to add a corner in free agency would allow Moore to continue doing what he does best while giving Brents a longer on-ramp to being the man in the secondary. Jaylon Johnson could be the best cornerback in the free-agent class and is having a huge season just before hitting the market.

2024 NFL Draft: LB Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Clemson

Unfortunately, Shaquille Leonard's prime was cut short by a back injury. His play this season led to the Colts waiving him, and his departure leaves a sizable hole in the middle of the defense. Zaire Franklin, E.J. Speed and Ronnie Harrison have all proven to be decent options, but a prospect like Jeremiah Trotter Jr. could once again give them a player with a higher upside at the position.

Trotter needs to improve as a run-game defender, but he has multiple ways to impact the passing game, as Matt Holder explains in his scouting report:

"Jeremiah Trotter Jr. has a lot of skills that will help him impact the passing game in the NFL. He's pretty athletic and anticipates throws well by reading the quarterback's eyes, making him a good middle hook defender in zone coverage. His athletic ability also helps him win as a pass-rusher, as he's been highly productive in that regard for an off-ball linebacker."

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars had a big opportunity in hosting the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football. Not only could they have put some space between themselves and the Colts and the Texans in the AFC South, but they also would have kept pace with the Kansas City Chiefs for a shot at the third seed.

Instead, Baltimore showed their strength in a lopsided win in which the Ravens had well over 200 yards rushing. Now the Jaguars face a critical stretch with the Buccaneers, Titans and Panthers up next. It's a soft schedule, but the Jags are on a three-game losing streak.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Edge Defender
    2. Interior Defensive Line
    3. Cornerback
    4. Wide Receiver
    5. Safety

Add Now: CB Sidney Jones IV, Cincinnati Bengals

The Jaguars secondary has struggled lately. The cornerback depth was thin to begin with, and Tyson Campbell's injury has only made those issues worse. Joe Flacco and Jake Browning both had big games against the Jaguars defense in Weeks 13 and 14. Bringing on a veteran corner like Sidney Jones IV could help.

Jones is only 27 years old and held opposing passers to a 79.2 passer rating when targeted in 2022.

2024 Free Agency: EDGE Bryce Huff, New York Jets

Josh Allen is in the middle of his most productive season to date for the Jaguars. The problem is he's set to become a free agent, and even if they re-sign him, there are several other key contributors at the position who have expiring contracts. An overhaul of the position is inevitable, and the Jags are desperate for guys who can bring down the quarterback.

Bryce Huff is a bit of a one-note pass-rushing specialist, but he can play a pivotal role. This season, he's already doubled his career high for sacks. He's figuring out how to use one of the fastest get-offs in football to get pressure on the quarterback.

2024 NFL Draft: DT Tyler Davis, Clemson

We all know how much Trent Baalke loves getting elite athletes on the defensive line. He's going to love Clemson's Tyler Davis. The 6'2", 300-pound defensive tackle was featured in Bruce Feldman's list of exceptional athletes and has that rare combination of size and speed that Baalke has coveted in the past.

As it stands, the Jags don't have any traditional interior defenders who should be considered assets as pass-rushers. That would change if Davis can continue his development in the NFL.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs got back on track with a 27-17 win over the New England Patriots after two frustrating losses in a row. Things looked a little dicey early on before a touchdown drive with 35 seconds left put the Chiefs up 14-10 at half. The win should ease some of the tension in the Chiefs offense, but the nine catches and 91 yards from Rashee Rice offers real hope that the rookie is developing into a real solution to their wide receiver woes.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Wide Receiver
    2. Interior Defender
    3. Offensive Tackle
    4. Edge Defender
    5. Cornerback

    Add Now: TE Zach Ertz

Zach Ertz has been looking for a team for a while now. The 33-year-old isn't the dynamic pass-catcher that he once was, but he's a veteran with consistent hands. The Chiefs have been desperate for receivers to step up all season. While Ertz isn't a receiver in the traditional sense, he would at least give the Chiefs another pass-catcher to work with. Andy Reid is creative enough to get both him and Travis Kelce involved.

Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report reported that the Chiefs were one of the four teams that were "most in the mix" on him. Maybe it's time to get a deal done with the playoffs a few weeks away.

2024 Free Agency: DT Grover Stewart, Indianapolis Colts

The Chiefs might be preparing for life without Chris Jones this offseason. The star defensive tackle is one of the best in the league, but his contract dispute with the team resulted in a lengthy holdout that went into this year. The resolution was temporary as the Chiefs simply added more money to his contract this season.

If Jones leaves, it creates a hole that won't be filled with just one player. It's going to require a group effort that could be spearheaded by another free agent. Grover Stewart will likely come at a discount because he's 30 years old and coming off of a six-game suspension for violating the league's performance-enhancing substance policy, but he's a defensive tackle with a long track record of being a good run defender and decent pass-rusher.

2024 NFL Draft: WR Troy Franklin, Oregon

It's been made painfully clear this season that wide receiver is the No. 1 need for the Chiefs. An offense that's led by Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid shouldn't struggle as much as Kansas City's has this season, and a lack of talent and experience in the receiver room is a big reason why. The Chiefs will likely be a destination for at least one veteran wideout, but the best way to acquire lasting talent for the room will be through the draft.

Troy Franklin needs to be a consideration. He has the long speed to take over Marquez Valdes-Scantling's role but the youth to grow into something more.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders offense went Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in Week 15. After losing a game 3-0 in Week 14, they rallied to put up 63 points. 63-21 is the kind of score you expect when a Lincoln Riley team plays Directional State University in college football, not an Aidan O'Connell-led NFL offense.

That being said, there's a reason the Chargers fired head coach Brandon Staley and general manager Tom Telesco after the game. The Chargers are on a collision course with an early draft pick, and Justin Herbert had just been ruled out for the season. Ultimately, it probably doesn't tell us much about the Raiders.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Quarterback
    2. Right Tackle
    3. Cornerback
    4. Edge Defender
    5. Interior Defender

    Add Now: OT Isaiah Prince

The Raiders are in a weird spot where they don't have much to play for, but firings have already taken place so the current regime is working toward getting a new job. That doesn't mean they should be looking to rush back a player like Kolton Miller, who sat out Thursday night's game with a shoulder injury.

Instead, the Raiders may want to look at adding a young tackle who could provide some depth. Isaiah Prince, 26, is one of the few free agent tackles with some experience who is under 30. He made six starts across three seasons from 2019 to 2023 and made two appearances for the Falcons this year.

2024 Free Agency: OT Tyron Smith, Dallas Cowboys

Kolton Miller is a good left tackle and the Raiders have looked at several different answers at right tackle. Going with a rookie is always a bit of a gamble, so it might be good to find a veteran who can at least serve as a mentor and one-year bridge.

Tyron Smith's future with the Cowboys is interesting. The 33-year-old has been there his entire career and is still playing at a high level. However, he's set to become a free agent and has a significant injury history. The Raiders should be willing to roll the dice if he becomes available.

2024 NFL Draft: CB T.J. Tampa, Iowa State

It's been a long time since the Raiders had a really good defense. Maxx Crosby is one of the best edge defenders in the league and they still haven't been able to build a unit that is even above-average by most metrics. A lot of that comes down to the secondary, where the Raiders have been a turnstile. They tried to patch up their cornerback room with multiple veterans on short deals this offseason, but it hasn't worked.

T.J. Tampa is a bigger cornerback at 6'2", 200 pounds. He's a physical player with the ability to disrupt bigger receivers at the catch point and jam smaller receivers at the line. He would bring the kind of attitude the Raiders should be looking to create in the secondary.

Los Angeles Chargers

A 63-21 embarrassment on Thursday Night Football was the final straw for this iteration of the Los Angeles Chargers. Team owner Dean Spanos decided to fire head coach Brandon Staley and general manager Tom Telesco after a lifeless performance in the prime-time game. Without Justin Herbert and several other key contributors, the Chargers were listless and appeared to be ready for the 2024 offseason.

That's the next real chance the Chargers have to fix things, anyway.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Cornerback
    2. Interior Defender
    3. Linebacker
    4. Right Tackle
    5. Wide Receiver

    Add Now: CB Greedy Williams

In all likelihood, the Chargers will be looking elsewhere to hire their new general manager. So it wouldn't hurt interim general manager JoJo Wooden to take a late swing on a player like Greedy Williams. The 26-year-old is a 2019 second-round pick who has shown promise at a premium position that has been an issue for the Chargers all year. After giving up 63 points to the Raiders, there's no downside.

2024 Free Agency: DT Michael Pierce, Baltimore Ravens

Under Staley, the Chargers had few interior defensive linemen that were elite run defenders. Outside of his first year when Linval Joseph was still in the lineup, they have avoided the true two-gapping nose tackle. Michael Pierce would change that. The 6'0", 345-pounder would be a sharp departure from how they approached the position under Staley.

At this point, that's music to Chargers' fans ears.

2024 NFL Draft: WR Malik Nabers, LSU

With the firing of Staley, the Chargers need to start thinking of a clean slate. Keenan Allen isn't getting any younger and Mike Williams is set to be a free agent. Paying both of them is going to make it more difficult to rebuild this team. Justin Herbert needs new receivers they can use to rebuild the offense. If it weren't for Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers would be getting a lot more love. He was Jayden Daniels' No. 1 target in the Bayou, racking up 86 receptions for 1,546 yards and 14 touchdowns entering bowl season.

Los Angeles Rams

19 of 32

While Washington had a couple of late scores to make the scoreboard look better, this Sunday's game was never really in doubt as the Los Angeles Rams as they took care of business. They're in pretty good shape to earn a wild-card spot with games against the Saints, Giants and 49ers, who might have nothing to play for in Week 18, to finish out the year.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Cornerback
    2. Left Tackle
    3. Edge-Rusher
    4. Linebacker
    5. Tight End

    Add Now: TE Zach Ertz

Tyler Higbee missed the game against the Ravens with a knee injury and was questionable heading into this week. Also, Hunter Long suffered a season-ending injury in Baltimore, so the Rams' depth at tight end has been tested over the past couple of weeks.

It'd be smart to have a veteran option on hand, and no other tight end who is available right now has a résumé that's as impressive as Ertz's—he's a three-time Pro Bowler with nearly 7,500 career receiving yards and 50 touchdowns.

2024 Free Agency: CB Kendall Fuller, Washington Commanders

Especially with Ahkello Witherspoon's contract about to expire, Los Angeles could afford to add an extra cornerback in free agency. Witherspoon is currently keeping the position group afloat, and the combination of Cobie Durant and natural safety Quentin Lake covering the slot has yielded sub-par results.

So, the Rams could use a cornerback who has the versatility to cover the inside and outside, and that's what Fuller can bring to the table, as he's had success at both spots during his career. Also, the 29-year-old has been having a good season with an impressive grade from Pro Football Focus.

2024 NFL Draft: OT Patrick Paul, Houston

Left tackle has been a trouble spot in Hollywood all season, and Alaric Jackson is an impending free agent. It wouldn't be surprising to see Les Snead explore his options at the position during the draft, and Paul would be a good target as he currently is the No. 38 player overall on B/R's NFL draft big board.

"Paul has elite length with solid movement skills and good play strength," B/R offensive line scout Brandon Thorn said. "He also brings a nasty, tone-setting demeanor that isn't always present in tackles, which makes him especially fun to study on tape.

"His strike timing and ability to land his hands inside the frame of defenders is shaky, leading to wide hands on contact and a lack of control that will be pronounced in the pro game. This leads to a sloppy element in his game, but the physical tools are evident and when he does get his hands in the right spots the rep is typically over.

"Paul will be up and down initially as a pro if he earns a starting role, but the foundation is in place to hold up physically right away, giving him a shot to add polish to his game to stick long-term."

Miami Dolphins

20 of 32

    Tua Tagovailoa

The Dolphins didn't have Tyreek Hill on Sunday, but they didn't need him. The offense was still firing on enough cylinders to rout the Jets 30-0 to keep pace atop the AFC East. With the Bills catching fire at the right time, it's going to be important for Hill's ankle injury to heal up and the Dolphins to prove they can perform against the top teams in the league. They draw the Cowboys, Ravens and Bills to end the season. It's a three-game stretch that should define their season and show what their ceiling is.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Left Guard
    2. Edge-Rusher
    3. Tight End
    4. Interior Defender
    5. Linebacker

    Add Now: No one

The Dolphins already had a pretty busy week last week in the acquisition department. They signed Melvin Ingram to help deal with the loss of Jaelan Phillips. Then they signed Jonotthan Harrison to the active roster and signed Matt Skura to the practice squad. The next weeks should be focused on acclimating those additions.

2024 Free Agency: OG John Simpson, Baltimore Ravens

The left guard spot has been a tricky one for the Dolphins to fill all season. They've played Isaiah Wynn and Lester Cotton among others there this season, but none have stayed healthy and really taken the job. Wynn is a free agent next season, so there's no guarantee he'll be back.

John Simpson is the starter there for the Ravens right now. He's taken his lumps while developing into a legitimate starter at the position. The Dolphins could capitalize on his growth and let the 26-year-old be a multiyear starter there.

2024 NFL Draft: DL Rylie Mills, Notre Dame

The Dolphins' best interior player—Christian Wilkins—is set to be a free agent and has earned a large contract in 2024. Whether it's the Dolphins that give it to him or not, they are going to have to make moves to build depth on the inside.

Rylie Mills projects to be a later-round pick, but he has some interesting tools as a former defensive end. Here's how Matt Holder sees the Fighting Irish lineman:

"After primarily lining up at defensive end during his first few years at Notre Dame, Rylie Mills bulked up in the offseason and moved inside to defensive tackle. He's a strong run defender who can hold his ground against offensive linemen, and he has a decent rip move as a pass-rusher. However, Mills' athleticism is a bit of a question mark, so it will be important for him to have a good showing at the combine and/or Notre Dame's pro day."

Minnesota Vikings

21 of 32

    Ty Chanlder

The Minnesota Vikings still hold a wild-card spot heading into this week, but if they do end up missing the playoffs, Saturday's loss will be even harder to swallow. After keeping Cincinnati out of the end zone for three quarters, Minnesota gave up three fourth-quarter touchdowns and went on to lose in overtime.

To make matters worse, they still have questions at quarterback and will play the Lions twice and the Packers once to finish the season.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Quarterback
    2. Interior Pass-Rush
    3. Running Back
    4. Right Tackle
    5. Cornerback

    Add Now: OT Dennis Kelly

Starting right tackle Brian O'Neill missed this past week's game with a sprained ankle. It's unclear how long O'Neill will be out, so it'd be smart to add a veteran like Kelly as an insurance policy, especially since the team will be fighting for a playoff spot to finish the year.

2024 Free Agency: EDGE Carl Lawson, New York Jets

With Danielle Hunter, D.J. Wonnum and Marcus Davenport all playing on expiring contracts, Minnesota is going to be looking for an edge defender during the offseason. Even if one of those three gets re-signed, they could use at least one replacement to put pressure on quarterbacks, especially since their interior defenders don't offer much as pass-rushers.

The Jets have one of the deepest defensive lines in the NFL, and Lawson hasn't gotten much playing time this year. He'd probably be willing to take a cheaper, "prove-it" type of deal this spring, and he's been productive in the past with 27 sacks during his first five seasons.

2024 NFL Draft: LB Edgerrin Cooper, Texas A&M

Jordan Hicks and Troy Dye are impending free agents, meaning the Vikings might look to draft a linebacker in April. Cooper could be a good target, as he currently holds a third-round grade and is the third linebacker on B/R's NFL draft big board after bursting onto the scene this season.

The Texas A&M product can fly. Speed helps him in a lot of ways like slipping blocks, closing on running backs, covering deep routes and being an effective spy. He also uses agility and impressive change-of-direction skills to make offensive linemen miss when they climb to the second level.

Overall, Cooper has really good movement skills, but he is wiry and needs to add size and strength to help take on blocks. His awareness in zone coverage needs work, too.

New England Patriots

22 of 32

    Ezekiel Elliott
    Ezekiel ElliottAP Photo/Michael Dwyer

The best news the Patriots got on Sunday had nothing to do with their 27-17 loss. The Carolina Panthers actually messed around and won a game against the Atlanta Falcons, opening up the possibility that the Pats could wind up in contention for the No. 1 pick. The Patriots' Week 14 win against the Steelers seemingly guaranteed they'd be picking no higher than No. 2.

Of course, they need to lose to the Broncos, Bills and Jets over the final three weeks to get there. That's not guaranteed after they were competitive with the Chiefs for the first half.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Quarterback
    2. Offensive Tackle
    3. Wide Receiver
    4. Edge-Rusher
    5. Cornerback

Add Now: RB DeWayne McBride, Minnesota Vikings

Rhamondre Stevenson continues to try and work himself back from an ankle sprain, but the question is...why? The Patriots are clearly out of it this season and in contention for the No. 1 pick. Getting Stevenson back to a full workload before the season is over doesn't seem like it's worth the mileage they are putting on their star back.

Then again, playing 28-year-old Ezekiel Elliott doesn't get them any closer to a better offense in 2024. Taking a shot on a young back on a practice squad could give them a look at fresh legs who could help next season. DeWayne McBride was our 11th-ranked running back in last year's class and is on the Vikings practice squad.

2024 Free Agency: CB Jaylon Johnson, Chicago Bears

The Patriots have needs at just about every premium position, which includes cornerback. Christian Gonzalez remains a promising prospect for the secondary, but it takes two strong outside corners to compete in the league. Jaylon Johnson has proven to be a ball-hawking cornerback and has taken his play to a new level in his fourth season with the Bears.

If the 24-year-old can avoid the franchise tag, he would make for a strong foundational piece for the Patriots to build their secondary around.

2024 NFL Draft: iOL Graham Barton, Duke

Assuming the Patriots are able to grab their quarterback of the future with their first round pick, it's going to be vital to put them in a position to succeed. The Patriots didn't do a great job of that with Mac Jones and bear some of the responsibility for the partnership not working out.

Graham Barton might still be available when the Pats get on the clock the second time, and he's one of the more versatile linemen in the draft when healthy. Here's Brandon Thorn's summary of Barton from his scouting report:

"Overall, Barton is a stubborn, sticky blocker with the short-area quickness, play strength and competitive toughness to make a successful transition inside and become a solid, dependable starter right away at guard or center in a multiple run scheme."

New Orleans Saints

In back-to-back weeks, the New Orleans Saints have done exactly what they needed to do to stay in the thick of the NFC South race by beating two inferior opponents. They're now tied for the division lead with Tampa Bay with three games to play. However, New Orleans' schedule does stiffen up with the Rams, Buccaneers and Falcons upcoming.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Guard
    2. Left Tackle
    3. Quarterback
    4. Tight End
    5. Wide Receiver

    Add Now: OL La'el Collins

The offensive line has been an issue for the Saints all season, so it'd be smart to bring in another veteran option for the team's final push to make the playoffs. Collins is a good option, since he has experience playing tackle and guard.

2024 Free Agency: LB Willie Gay Jr., Kansas City Chiefs

Demario Davis turns 35 years old in less than a month and his contract has an out that would save New Orleans—which is expected to begin the offseason in the red for cap space—$12 million with a post-June 1 release, per Spotrac.

Also, it wouldn't be surprising to see the organization look to rebuild, and Davis be willing to restructure his deal so that he can play for a contender next season.

In either scenario, the Saints would be looking for a new young linebacker to fill the former All-Pro's shoes. Gay Jr. doesn't turn 26 until February and has been a solid coverage backer over the past four seasons. That would make him a good complement to Pete Werner, who is more of a run defender.

2024 NFL Draft: CB Kris Abrams-Draine, Missouri

New Orleans has tried to convert Alonte Taylor into a nickelback this season, but its attempt has been rather unsuccessful. He has struggled in this role for the majority of the year. So, drafting a slot corner should be on the table and Abrams-Draine would be a good option, as he currently holds a third-round grade on B/R's NFL draft big board.

"Versatile cornerback who can play out of the slot and out wide," B/R defensive backs scout Cory Giddings said. "He likes to play out of press a lot, where he can be handsy at times but looks to control receivers at the line of scrimmage. He also has great ball skills to locate and play ball in the air in addition to good hands to capitalize on turnovers.

"Abrams-Draine can have trouble sinking hips and changing direction at times. He's also light in the pants which may cause trouble tackling at the next level, where he often wrestles bigger ball carriers down. Strength is a question as well, where he has shown to be bumped off at the top of routes."

New York Giants

24 of 32

The clock struck midnight on the New York Giants' first winning streak of the season as their biggest issue, pass protection, reared its head again. Tommy DeVito was sacked seven times, and New York's offense struggled to get anything going. The good news is their draft positioning improved, putting a top-five pick very much on the table.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Interior Offensive Line
    2. Quarterback
    3. Right Tackle
    4. Cornerback
    5. 2nd Edge

    Add Now: CB Danny Johnson

Cornerback is a current weakness for the Giants and will be one of their offseason needs since Adoree' Jackson is an impending free agent. Johnson was recently released by the Commanders, but he has some versatility as a corner who can cover the slot or out wide. So, it couldn't hurt to bring him in for a few weeks and see what he's got.

2024 Free Agency: WR DJ Chark Jr., Carolina Panthers

With Parris Campbell and Sterling Shepard about to hit free agency, New York will likely be looking for a wide receiver in the spring. The Giants have plenty of smaller, slot-type receivers on the roster but could use a big-bodied target who can win in contested-catch situations.

That's what the 6'4" and 200-pound Chark can provide as he's been good at making grabs in traffic over the last couple of years. Also, he doesn't turn 28 until September and shouldn't command too much money as he is having a down year statistically with 25 catches, 345 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games entering Week 15.

2024 NFL Draft: DL Ruke Orhorhoro, Clemson

After trading away Leonard Williams midseason, the Giants are going to be looking for a defensive tackle to pair with Dexter Lawrence in the offseason. The front office won't have to look much further than Lawrence's alma mater to find a potential running mate for him as Orhorhoro has enormous potential at the next level.

The Clemson product fits the description of a high-ceiling NFL draft prospect to a T. His combination of strength and athleticism is evident on film, and he's still relatively new to the game having grown up in Nigeria before moving to Michigan. He was primarily a basketball player before hitting the gridiron for the first time as a junior in high school.

Against the run, Orhorhoro only has a few flaws in his game. He takes on blocks with good leverage and has the upper-body strength to not only gain control of the block but also snap offensive linemen heads back. Also, his agility allows him to avoid getting reached.

The Tiger is a little more limited as a pass-rusher, though. He has a decent bull rush that should translate to the NFL, but he needs to develop another move beyond that. A big reason for that is he's still learning to use his hands. However, Orhorhoro did get much better at playing the hands after contact as this past season went on.

New York Jets

25 of 32

    Zach Wilson

The New York Jets just can't catch a break.

Zach Wilson finally put in a good performance last week. It was probably too little and too late for the Jets to actually make a run at a playoff spot, but he went 4-of-11 for 26 yards on Sunday before he left the game with a head injury. The Jets turned to Trevor Siemian, and the offense ended up with 103 total yards in a 30-0 loss to the Dolphins.

The loss ends any chance of making the playoffs and should put off any idea of an Aaron Rodgers return this season.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Offensive Tackle
    2. Safety
    3. Wide Receiver
    4. Quarterback
    5. Interior Defender

Add Now: iOL Logan Bruss, Los Angeles Rams

The Jets offensive line has been a disaster all season. It was a question mark to begin the season, and then injuries ruined any chances they had. They worked out three linemen last week and ultimately signed Obinna Eze, indicating they are still in the market for young linemen who could help the team.

Logan Bruss was a third-round pick in 2022 but missed his rookie season with an ACL tear and has been on the Rams practice squad all season. The Jets could poach him and see if he could compete next season when the Jets try to fix the offensive line.

2024 Free Agency: DB C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Detroit Lions

C.J. Gardner-Johnson's stint with the Detroit Lions could be brief. He signed a one-year deal with them this offseason, but a torn pectoral took him out just two games into this season. Gardner-Johnson was actually medically cleared from the injury last week, but it will be interesting to see how quickly he can get into game shape and contribute.

There was some buzz that Gardner-Johnson was considering the Jets last year when he was a free agent. He has the swag and attitude that would fit right in with Sauce Gardner and the rest of the defense, and he might come at a discount considering the injury.

2024 NFL Draft: WR Jermaine Burton, Alabama

Fixing the offensive line for Aaron Rodgers when he comes back from his Achilles injury is priority No. 1 to fix the offense. Making sure he has all the weapons he needs to thrive is Goal No. 2. Drafting Jermaine Burton out of Alabama could help in that department. He's not the flashiest receiver in the class, but B/R's Derrik Klassen sees an NFL role for him.

"Jermaine Burton is just a pro. He isn't going to wow anyone with size or speed or explosiveness, but he checks the boxes at an acceptable NFL level all the way around. Burton really wins with crisp route-running and a knack for finding the ball, especially when he needs to be acrobatic on the sideline. There's a role for Burton in the NFL as a reliable slot/Z type who can serve as a nice auxiliary piece."

Philadelphia Eagles

While the Philadelphia Eagles have a playoff spot locked down, it certainly feels like they're fading at the wrong time. Monday's loss makes it three in a row for Philadelphia, and that stretch came against three teams that it might see again in the postseason.

The good news is the Eagles have a chance to get back on track with two matchups against the Giants and a game against the Cardinals sandwiched between those contests.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Cornerback Depth
    2. Wide Receiver Depth
    3. Linebacker
    4. Tight End

    Add Now: CB Casey Hayward

The Eagles are thin at cornerback, as the depth chart is filled out by young, first- or second-year players. Also, James Bradberry hasn't been playing particularly well this season, and Darius Slay has been on the injury report for the last two weeks. So, it would be a smart move to sign a veteran like Hayward in case of an emergency down the line.

2024 Free Agency: iOL Graham Glasgow, Detroit Lions

Jason Kelce is widely expected to retire when his contract expires at the end of the year, leaving some massive shoes to fill on the interior of Philadelphia's offensive line. The Eagles have two college centers, Cam Jurgens and Landon Dickerson, who are currently playing guard, so sliding one of them over to the middle could make sense to replace Kelce.

However, that still leaves the team with a hole to fill up front, and it couldn't hurt to bring in someone else who can play guard or center. Glasgow has done exactly that in Detroit this season, lining up at both guard spots and center. He'd also be a good bargain addition as he's currently playing on a one-year, $2.75 million contract.

2024 NFL Draft: LB Payton Wilson, NC State

Three out of the four linebackers on the Eagles' active roster are impending free agents, so the team is going to be looking for some depth at the position during the NFL draft at the least. Wilson does have a long injury history that the team's doctors will need to explore, but he also is the type of athlete the front office seems to covet at the position.

Listed at 6'4" and nearly 240 pounds, the NC State product has good size and a good frame for the next level. He's also been super productive in college, racking up over 400 total career tackles.

That's due in part to Wilson's impressive speed that allows him to crash downhill and have sideline-to-sideline range. He does get pushed around against the run and his instincts aren't great, but his physical traits are worthy of a middle-round selection.

Pittsburgh Steelers

27 of 32

The wheels continued to fall off for the Steelers in Week 15. Pittsburgh has been able to remain in contention despite a bad offense because of a defense that keeps them in most games. Now the Steelers defense is even having a hard time being competitive on a weekly basis. The Colts were without Jonathan Taylor and lost Michael Pittman Jr. and Zack Moss during the game.

They still put up 30 while the Steelers' offense struggled to get anything going with Mitch Trubisky under center. The Steelers are technically just one game behind the wild-card pace, but it's hard not to feel like the season is over in the middle of a three-game losing streak.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Cornerback
    2. Offensive Tackle
    3. Wide Receiver
    4. Quarterback
    5. Interior Defender

Add Now: DL Chris Wormley, Carolina Panthers

The Steelers' only hope of winning games consistently this season has lied with the defense. That unit has performed well this season, but it's pretty beat up at this point. Keeanu Benton and Cameron Heyward joined T.J. Watt on the injured reserve list this week. Bringing back former Steeler Chris Wormley could help with the defensive line depth. The 30-year-old is on the Panthers practice squad right now but has been called up to play in three games and knows the Steelers well.

2024 Free Agency: S Geno Stone, Baltimore Ravens

The offense needs a lot of work, but the Steelers' clearest path to continuing to be in the playoff hunt is with a strong defense. Pairing Geno Stone with Minkah Fitzpatrick on the back end would be a scary step in that direction. Stone has emerged as a ball-hawking safety for the Ravens this season. Going into Week 15, only DaRon Bland (8) had more picks than Stone (6).

The Steelers would not only get better by poaching Stone, but they would hurt the Ravens who might not be willing to match a serious offer with Kyle Hamilton and Marcus Williams on the roster.

2024 NFL Draft: WR Xavier Worthy, Texas

There's no way the Steelers can just come back in 2024 with the same basic offensive weapons they have right now. Firing Matt Canada means the Steelers will have to rebuild their offense in the offseason under a new offensive coordinator. Xavier Worthy brings game-breaking speed to the table that would help the Steelers create a formidable trio with Diontae Johnson and George Pickens. That would make life a lot easier for the new coordinator and whoever winds up playing quarterback next season.

San Francisco 49ers

28 of 32

Despite being down several key defensive players, the San Francisco 49ers took care of business in Arizona and clinched the division for the second year in a row. San Francisco is also a couple of steps closer to locking up the No. 1 seed in the NFC with the win and Dallas' loss.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Guard
    2. Right Tackle
    3. Safety
    4. Center
    5. Cornerback

    Add Now: DT Ndamukong Suh

Arik Armstead and Javon Hargrave missed this week's game with injuries, and Armstead had to sit out against the Seahawks too while Hargrave exited that contest early. The 49ers are a little thin at defensive tackle right now, so it would make sense to bring in a veteran just in case one of those injuries lingers into the postseason.

Also, Suh can be a decent pass-rusher to help fill Hargrave's role in case the latter has to miss more time.

2024 Free Agency: TE Geoff Swaim

With Charlie Woerner and Ross Dwelley about to hit free agency, San Francisco will need to add some depth at tight end in the offseason. While they did spend a third-round pick on Cameron Latu last April, Latu is more of a pass-catcher and the team could use a quality blocking tight end behind George Kittle.

Swaim has built a nine-year career as a decent run-blocking tight end. He's also going to be 31 in September and is only currently making $1.7 million, so he could be a good economic option for the 49ers, who are expected to be up against the cap in the offseason.

2024 NFL Draft: CB Kris Abrams-Draine, Missouri

Cornerback will likely be one of John Lynch's top priorities this offseason, as the team is a little thin at the position. Abrams-Draine could be a good draft target, as he holds a third-round grade on B/R's big board and has the versatility to line up at multiple spots.

He's also light in the pants, which may cause trouble tackling at the next level, where he often wrestles bigger ball carriers down. Strength is a question as well, where he has shown to be bumped off at the top of routes."

Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks managed to save their season with a huge comeback win over Philadelphia on Monday Night Football. Seattle is still on the outside looking in for the playoff picture, but it has a favorable schedule with Tennessee, Pittsburgh and Arizona left on the docket.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Interior Offensive Line
    2. Offensive Tackle
    3. Safety
    4. Edge
    5. Nickelback

    Add Now: CB Bryce Callahan

The Seahawks came into Monday night pretty beat up at cornerback as Devon Witherspoon, Artie Burns and Tre Brown were all listed on this week's injury report. While none of their injuries are expected to be serious, it might be smart to bring in a veteran just in case. Callahan would be a good option since he has experience covering the slot and out wide.

2024 Free Agency: LB Azeez Al-Shaair, Tennessee Titans

Seattle has three impending free agents at linebacker, including both starters Bobby Wagner and Jordyn Brooks. So, the front office will likely explore their options for the position on the open market.

Now that he's not playing behind Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw, Al-Shaair is having an impressive season with a career-high 124 total tackles through the first 13 seasons of the campaign. He's stood out against the run this season, where he has a good grade from Pro Football Focus and is the type of athlete the Seahawks seem to covet at linebacker.

2024 NFL Draft: iOL Zach Frazier, West Virginia

Evan Brown has been the Seahawks' primary center this year, but his contract is about to expire. The same goes for Damien Lewis and Phil Haynes, so the team will need some interior offensive linemen moving forward, and Frazier could fill the void at either center or guard.

"Zach Frazier is a four-year starter inside West Virginia's multiple, run-heavy scheme (64-36 run-pass split) with 47 career starts (38 at center and nine at left guard)," B/R NFL draft scout Brandon Thorn explained via the Mountaineer's scouting report.

"Frazier has a squatty, compact build with powerful hands, very good play strength and a high-level wrestling background that shows up on film with how well he manipulates leverage to his advantage. That allows him to halt movement on command before gaining control, generating movement and securing blocks to create alleys and lanes off of his backside.

"Frazier shows a clear understanding of the play's intent, putting himself in good positional leverage with the grip strength to tie up and pin defenders away from the ball. He has enough short-area quickness to reach a shade, locate and secure targets on the move as a puller and climbing off combo blocks.

"However, Frazier's average-level athletic ability and length will leave him stranded in space against shifty targets without much twitch to redirect once defenders get on his edges."

It's also worth noting that the West Virginia product will also be coming off of a broken leg that he suffered during the team's regular-season finale.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

30 of 32

    Baker Mayfield, Robert Hainsey

The best way to describe the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season is to say they're just a weird team. Not much was expected of them to begin the year, yet they started 3-1. However, it looked like Tampa Bay was who everyone thought it was when it lost six out of seven contests.

But, the Gulf Coast roller coaster isn't quite done, as the Buccaneers have won three in a row to head into the last three weeks of the campaign with the NFC South lead. They have a date with Jacksonville at home before hosting New Orleans in what will be a crucial matchup before ending the season with a trip to Carolina.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Guard
    2. Center
    3. Cornerback
    4. Tight End
    5. Strong Safety

    Add Now: CB Casey Hayward

The Buccaneers have a legitimate shot to make the playoffs, as the NFC South is still wide-open with three weeks left on the campaign. However, their cornerbacks have been struggling lately, so it'd be smart to have a veteran on hand as a backup like Hayward, who is a two-time All-Pro.

2024 Free Agency: WR Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals

Since before the regular season even started, it's been rumored that Mike Evans' days in Tampa Bay are numbered since he's an impending free agent. It will be difficult to replace what Evans brings to the table, but Higgins shares a similar skill set.

The 6'4" and roughly 220-pound receiver's size has helped him be a threat on contested catches, and he's been solid at pushing the ball down the field with a career average of 14.0 yards per catch heading into this weekend. He's also been vocal that he's capable of being a No. 1 receiver, and the Bucs could provide that opportunity with Evans gone.

2024 NFL Draft: S Lathan Ransom, Ohio State

With Ryan Neal's and Antoine Winfield Jr.'s contracts about to expire, Tampa will likely be looking at adding a safety in the draft. Ransom is best in the box, which would make him a good mid-round replacement option for Neal.

"When defending the run, Ransom is a physical defender who does his best when playing close to the line of scrimmage," B/R NFL draft scout Cory Giddings said. "He does a good job of taking blocks on with his hands and uses his strength to quickly disengage. He flows well to the ball and triggers quickly to what he sees.

"Though Ransom isn't a true cover defender, he does a good job of covering underneath routes. He keeps his leverage and uses his hands well to control receivers, although he will have to change that technique at the next level.

"He can be a bit heavy-footed in space, lacking the necessary change-of-direction to get out of breaks and the top-end speed to carry receivers deep. He tracks the ball well and has enough ball skills to capitalize on the balls he should but won't make any 'wow' plays."

Tennessee Titans

31 of 32

    Will Levis and Treylon Burks
Will Levis and Treylon BurksWesley Hitt/Getty Images

The Titans' 19-16 overtime loss to the Houston Texans was emblematic of their season. They were able to force overtime and play competitively thanks to some good plays by Will Levis and a decent defensive effort against a banged-up Texans squad. But it wasn't good enough to save their season, as they were officially eliminated from the playoffs.

It's fitting. The Titans have some good things going for them. Treylon Burks made a few big plays with three catches for 62 yards, but the roster just has too many holes to be taken seriously right now.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Offensive Tackle
    2. Edge-Rusher
    3. Wide Receiver
    4. Cornerback
    5. Safety

    Add Now: CB Anthony Averett

Kristian Fulton was placed on injured reserve last week adding just another injury for a beat up defense to deal with. The cornerback group has been a bit of a liability for the Titans this season anyway, so it might be worth it to see if someone on the free-agent market is worth a look in 2024.

Anthony Averett was released by the Lions earlier this season. He had previously signed with the 49ers but was released with an injury. If he's healthy now he's a veteran corner with starting experience with the Ravens and Raiders.

2024 Free Agency: WR Gabriel Davis, Buffalo Bills

It's concerning how much the Titans have relied on DeAndre Hopkins to carry the passing attack. Going into Week 15, Hopkins (898) had over 500 more yards than the next leading wide receiver on the roster. If the Titans go into next season without making at least one major move to add a needle-mover they are doing Will Levis a disservice.

Even signing a No. 2 like Gabriel Davis would qualify. If anything, Davis' abilities as a red-zone threat would make life easier for Levis inside the 20s. If Treylon Burks can come back healthy and break out in his third season, a receiving trio of Hopkins, Davis and Burks would create an interesting offense.

2024 NFL Draft: OT JC Latham, Alabama

The Titans should feel comfortable in moving into the next phase with Will Levis as their quarterback. They spent a second-round pick on him, and he's shown enough to have the Titans build around him a little bit. That means putting an offensive line in front of him that can help him come along.

Depending on where the Titans wind up in the draft order, that could mean taking a good look at JC Latham. He's not quite as polished as Joe Alt or Olu Fashanu, but Brandon Thorn is high on his projection for the young Tide blocker.

"Overall, Latham will be 21 years old throughout the duration of his rookie season in the NFL with a striking blend of size, play strength, power and competitive toughness to overwhelm defenders in the run and pass game. He needs added patience to counterbalance his attacking play style, but he has the tools, skill set and runway to start in year one with Pro Bowl potential within his first contract."

Washington Commanders

32 of 32

    Terry McLaurin
    Terry McLaurinKevork Djansezian/Getty Images

The Washington Commanders have nothing to play for at this point in the season, so the loss in Los Angeles isn't a big deal. However, what could be concerning for Washington is that Sam Howell played poorly and their offense was significantly more effective with Jacoby Brissett.

The front office still has these next three weeks to decide what it wants to do at quarterback moving forward, but this is a few rough performances in a row for Howell.

    Biggest Weaknesses:

    1. Edge
    2. Linebacker
    3. Left Guard
    4. Center
    5. Quarterback

Add Now: CB Thomas Graham Jr.

The rest of this season for the Commanders needs to be about building for next year and beyond. So it would make sense to use these final few weeks to load up on young players and see who's worthy of a future/reserve contract in the offseason. Graham doesn't turn 25 until June, and the team is going to need some depth at corner if Kendall Fuller walks in free agency.

2024 Free Agency: S Jeremy Chinn, Carolina Panthers

Kamren Curl has been a 'do-it-all' safety this year, lining up in the box, deep and over the slot. He's also having another impressive campaign with good grades from Pro Football Focus both against the run and in coverage. However, Curl is also an impending free agent and might want to look for a new home with how disastrous this season has been in Washington.

Meanwhile, Chinn has a similar skill set and plays in a similar role on Carolina's defense. He's also still pretty young as he'll be 26 years old in February, so the Commanders could get a suitable replacement for one of their best defensive players without having to sacrifice too much youth at the position.

2024 NFL Draft: TE Bryson Nesbit, North Carolina

Logan Thomas is about to be 33 years old next season and is only signed through 2024, so tight end might be a position of emphasis in the nation's capital during the NFL draft. Also, the team could use a playmaker at the position, which is what Nesbit can provide.

"Bryson Nesbit is a talented pass-catcher who could use a little more time refining his route running," B/R NFL draft scout Derrik Klassen said. "Athletically, Nesbit has the goods. He's a little skinny at 6'5" and 235 pounds, but he's a smooth mover with a graceful gait in the open field.

"Nesbit is also a reliable ball-winner. He's not peak Jimmy Graham, but he goes up for catches in the air and in traffic on a regular basis. Nesbit just needs to work on his route-running and separation skills so he doesn't have to rely on those ball skills all the time."
