NFL Rumors: Rams Assistant Zac Robinson Agrees to OC Contract With Falcons
January 28, 2024
The Atlanta Falcons are hiring Los Angeles Rams pass-game coordinator Zac Robinson as their offensive coordinator, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Robinson, who has been the Rams pass-game coordinator since 2022, joins Los Angeles' former defensive coordinator Raheem Morris in Atlanta after he was hired as head coach on Thursday.
Robinson has been with the Rams for the entirety of his coaching career. He joined the staff in 2019 as the assistant quarterbacks coach and moved to wide receivers in 2020. He returned to his former position in 2021 before taking over as quarterbacks coach and pass-game coordinator in 2022.
Robinson has been a popular candidate for several offensive coordinator openings around the league. He interviewed with the Chicago Bears and was reportedly the runner-up to Shane Waldron, who was ultimately hired by the Bears. Robinson also interviewed with the New Orleans Saints to be their offensive coordinator.
This season with the Rams, Robinson helped lead the team to 23.8 points per game, 239 passing yards per game and 26 passing touchdowns on the year. The Rams fell just short in the wild-card round of the NFL Playoffs against the Detroit Lions.
Now, the Falcons are looking for a new start after moving on from Arthur Smith and hiring Morris. Atlanta is coming off a third-straight 7-10 season and a sixth-straight season missing the playoffs, which is tied for the third-longest playoff drought.
With Morris and now Robinson leading the way, the Falcons are looking to snap the ugly drought.
