The New York Jets have to make sure they are in the best position to contend for a playoff spot in 2024.

Getting to that point is more difficult than the Jets would want it to be.

New York has to rework its offensive line and add more depth at the offensive skill positions to surround Aaron Rodgers with the best possible team in what may be his only season as the team's starting quarterback.

The offseason project is aided by the No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. The Jets can add one of the top offensive linemen or wide receivers to fill one of their major offseason needs.

Rework Offensive Line

The Jets allowed 64 sacks in the 2023 NFL season.

The offensive line play was one of the biggest weaknesses on the 7-10 squad and it must get better so that Rodgers can stay upright in the pocket.

However, the Jets could be stuck in a difficult spot because of the players potentially available to them.

Tyron Smith and Trent Brown are the only high-profile offensive tackle free agents and they could be out of range for the top offensive line prospects with the No. 10 pick.

Bleacher Report's NFL scouting department predicted Georgia offensive tackle Amarius Mims would land with the Jets at No. 10 in their latest mock draft.

Notre Dame's Joe Alt and Penn State's Olu Fashanu are the top two offensive tackle prospects, but neither may be available at No. 10. The Jets have to hope for a fourth quarterback to be chosen and a run on wide receivers to occur in the top nine picks.

The Jets could take a shot on Mike Onwenu or Jonah Williams in free agency as well, but no matter what the moves are, they must get better on the interior for 2024.

Add More Support for Aaron Rodgers

The Jets have a clear No. 1 at running back, wide receiver and tight end.

Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson and Tyler Conklin form a solid offensive foundation, but more needs to be added to compete for an AFC playoff spot.

Allen Lazard is the best No. 2 option at wide receiver currently on the roster. Xavier Gipson and Jason Brownlee displayed some positive signs in 2023, while C.J. Uzomah is a top candidate to be cut because of his salary.

Marvin Harrison Jr. and Rome Odunze will likely be gone by the time the Jets select at No. 10. LSU's Malik Nabers was mocked at No. 14 by B/R's NFL scouting department. He could be one of the top non-offensive tackle targets at No. 10.

New York might not be in the market for Tee Higgins and the top wide receiver free agents, but a No. 2 or No. 3 wide out, like Curtis Samuel or Jauan Jennings could become a difference-maker behind Wilson.

Moving on from Zach Wilson

The Jets and Zach Wilson should part ways in the offseason.

The former No. 2 overall pick has not panned out in the Big Apple despite countless chances to be the starting quarterback.

At this point in his career, Wilson may not even a reliable backup quarterback.

The Jets need a more reliable veteran in the No. 2 spot behind Rodgers so they can navigate a potential injury absence better than the quarterback merry-go-round from the 2023 season.

Wilson is one of nine players currently scheduled to make over $10 million in 2024, per Spotrac.

The BYU product and Uzomah are the top candidates to be cut to open up cap space and allow the Jets to sign players who can improve the overall quality of the team in 2024.
