Davante Adams Trade Rumors Shut Down by Raiders GM amid Aaron Rodgers, Jets Links
February 27, 2024
The Las Vegas Raiders have no intention of trading Davante Adams this offseason amid rumors linking him to a reunion with Aaron Rodgers on the New York Jets.
"He's a Raider," general manager Tom Telesco told reporters Tuesday.
Telesco's comments come after NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported earlier this month that Rodgers, who was teammates with Adams while the two were in Green Bay, "has been trying to recruit" the star wide receiver to the Meadowlands.
However, Rapoport added that the Raiders "have zero plans" to trade Adams this offseason.
Adams had been included in trade rumors since before the 2023 season's deadline. Gang Green even tried to acquire him before the deadline but the franchise was shut down, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
One source told Schefter at the time that there "was no chance in hell" the Raiders would trade away Adams, and that remains the case as the team enters a new era under Telesco and head coach Antonio Pierce.
The Raiders enter 2024 with numerous holes to plug, the biggest being at quarterback. It seems unlikely Aidan O'Connell will serve as the starter, so Las Vegas could look to add a new signal-caller via the draft or free agency.
If the Raiders start over at quarterback, it will be crucial that a player, who could possibly be a rookie, has at least one reliable target and Adams would be that guy, leading a group that also includes Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker.
Despite the team's struggles, Adams has put together two impressive seasons to kick off his career with the Raiders, recording 1,000-plus receiving yards each year. He's coming off a 2023 campaign that saw him catch 103 passes for 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns in 17 games.
Adams is under contract with the Raiders through 2026, and it appears he'll be a staple for the franchise for the foreseeable future.
