Former WWE star Matt Riddle admitted to failing multiple drug tests prior to his departure from the company.

"I went to the strip club and did some cocaine a couple of times and I failed a drug test for that," Riddle told The MMA Hour on Wednesday (h/t Ian Carey of F4WOnline.com).

The former tag team champion said he had multiple failed tests for cocaine.

In one instance, he was flagged twice within a short span, which led WWE to be a little more lenient. Riddle told host Ariel Helwani he proceeded to go multiple weeks without an issue but then failed another random drug test after a night of partying "when I thought I was in the clear."

That prompted the company to recommend Riddle enter rehab. He completed a 30-day stay in treatment and pushed back when WWE suggested he say for another 30 days.

The 38-year-old was included in a round of roster cuts last September. He told Helwani he thought the writing was basically on the wall as early as the spring after people inside WWE said they didn't have any plans for him at WrestleMania 39.

Riddle made his return to the ring in January with MLW and debuted with New Japan Pro-Wrestling shortly after that.

"I feel like getting fired by WWE happened at the right time," he told The MMA Hour. "Not saying I won't go back, or saying I will go back, there's no discussion there but at the same time, I just had another kid, little Matthew, and with the WWE schedule, it's a lot."
