Xavier Worthy Says He Couldn't Beat Usain Bolt in 40-Yard Dash: 'No Comparison'
March 9, 2024
Although he currently owns the fastest 40-yard dash in the history of the NFL scouting combine, Xavier Worthy doesn't think he can beat eight-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt in the event.
"No," Worthy said when asked if he could top Bolt in the 40-yard dash, per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. "His 40 was in shoes and sweats. There's no comparison. I'm not even gonna disrespect him."
Bolt posted a time of 4.22 seconds at the NFL Experience festivities in 2019, although it's worth noting that he was wearing sweatpants and sneakers. He was also 37 years old at the time and retired from athletics in 2017.
Bolt is the fastest human being in recorded history, as his 100-meter dash time of 9.58 seconds that he set in Aug. 2009 is still the all-time record.
Although Worthy may not be able to beat out the living legend, his 40-yard dash time of 4.21 seconds is the best mark in the history of the combine. He surpassed the previous record of 4.22 seconds, which was set by former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver John Ross in 2017.
Worthy's blazing speed was on full display in Indianapolis, and he likely improved his draft stock as a result. He currently ranks as the No. 9 wide receiver prospect in the 2024 class on the latest big board from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department.
In his senior season at Texas, Worthy hauled in 75 receptions for 1,014 yards to go along with five touchdowns.
