Los Angeles Chargers star edge-rusher Joey Bosa has restructured his contract to stay with the Bolts, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported on March 9 that the Bolts were open to trade offers for their veterans, including Bosa and Khalil Mack. However, Russini added that interested teams were waiting to see if L.A. would release them.

However, the four-time Pro Bowler and 2016 Defensive Rookie of the Year will remain with the team.

The ex-Ohio State star joined the Bolts as the third overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft. Despite missing the first four weeks of his rookie season with a hamstring injury, Bosa finished with 10.5 sacks and 41 tackles in 12 games.

For his career, Bosa has accumulated 67.0 sacks, 143 quarterback hits and 321 tackles in 93 games (84 starts). He earned Pro Bowl honors in 2017 and again from 2019-2021.

In 2020, Bosa signed a five-year, $135 million extension that takes him through the 2025 season. Unfortunately, injuries have limited Bosa throughout his career.

A bruised bone in his left foot held Bosa to seven games in 2018. Concussion protocol forced him to sit four times in 2020. A groin tear forced him to miss 12 games in 2022.

This pasr season, the 28-year-old Bosa had 20 tackles and 6.5 sacks in nine games before he suffered a season-ending right foot sprain.

When healthy, Bosa is one of the best pass-rushers in the NFL. Hopefully he can enjoy a stretch of good health and regain the form that made him one of the most feared defensive players in football.

That will be much-needed for the Chargers, who are coming off a five-win season and have plenty of work to do on their bloated cap sheet. L.A. notably restructured the contract of edge-rusher Khalil Mack and released wide receiver Mike Williams to help do just that.
