Mets Make Changes to Black Alternate Uniforms Ahead Of 2024 MLB Season
March 21, 2024
The New York Mets have made a minor adjustment to their alternate black jerseys for the 2024 season.
Images from the jersey being sold in the Mets' team store show they did away with the white shadowing behind the logo.
There has been speculation that this change was coming. Images released in January showed the Mets' black hats were no longer going to have the white shadowing.

The white shadow will also be removed from behind the player's numbers and name on the back of the jersey.
New York originally introduced the black jerseys in 1998 and used them through the 2011 season. It was discontinued for the next nine seasons before being brought back as an alternate in 2021.
The Mets typically wear the black jersey with white pants for Friday home games during the season. Their first Friday home game of the 2024 season is on April 12 against the Kansas City Royals.
They are one of nine teams adding a City Connect jersey to their rotation this season.
Per Paul Lukas of Uni-Watch.com, the Mets' City Connect uniform will be worn for the first time on April 26 when they host the St. Louis Cardinals at Citi Field.
