Canelo Álvarez, Ryan Garcia Squash Beef, Show Love and Respect on IG After Training
March 24, 2024
Boxing stars Canelo Álvarez and Ryan Garcia have finally put their differences aside.
In an Instagram post Saturday, Garcia shared multiple photos of he and Álvarez and wrote that "No amount of hate can separate our Mexican Bond."
Garcia also thanked Canelo's trainer, Eddy Reynoso, for the guidance he has provided him with.
Álvarez responded in the comments to tell Garcia, "You know we love u kid," and added his advice was "always with the intention to help from the heart."
Reynoso was a central figure in the bad blood that built up between Garcia and Canelo. Garcia split with Reynoso in 2021 and didn't have complimentary things to say about the trainer after they went their separate ways.
Last August, Álvarez indicated he was willing to extend an olive branch.
"A little things got out of control but he's young and sometimes you think it's good what you say but I know it's not," he said on The Breakfast Club (via Mark Lelinwalla of DAZN.com). "But no. It's fine."
A month ago, however, it looked like things hadn't changed much after Garcia publicly advocated for Canelo to fight David Benavidez and questioned why the super middleweight champion would turn down the opportunity.
Just last week, Álvarez returned to a diplomatic tone when discussing the 25-year-old and expressed some concern with the people he has surrounded himself with.
Michael Benson @MichaelBensonnCanelo Alvarez on Ryan Garcia: "He's a good kid, he's a good person. The people around him need to help him. I feel a little sad for him because he needs to have good people around him… I just hope Ryan [can] be good because I appreciate that guy. I hope for him the very best."
It now appears the beef is well and truly quashed.
Perhaps Canelo will be on hand when Garcia opposes an unbeaten Devin Haney on April 20 in Brooklyn, New York.
