Adding injury to the insult from Tuesday's double-overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Milwaukee Bucks could be without Patrick Beverley for the remainder of the season.

Beverley announced on The Pat Bev Pod he has a torn ligament in his right wrist that will require surgery and keep him out for three to four months when he has it.

The Bucks haven't provided any updates about his status at this point. Beverley, who sat out the loss against the Lakers, appeared to indicate the surgery is scheduled to happen right before the start of the playoffs.

Beverley explained he felt some pain in his wrist during warmups before Sunday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Even though Beverley was able to play against the Thunder, he was only in the game for 15 minutes. It was his fewest minutes in a game since Feb. 15 against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Bucks acquired Beverley from the Philadelphia 76ers on Feb. 8. Their hope was he would be able to provide a boost to their depth and perimeter defense for the stretch run.

Milwaukee is a respectable 10th in defensive rating since the All-Star break. It's not fair to attribute all of that success to Beverley, but his style of play did help a unit that was among the worst in the NBA earlier this season.

Beverley is averaging 5.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 19 appearances with the Bucks. The team has a 13-6 record in those games.

AJ Green will likely receive the bulk of the playing time that would have gone to Beverley. He scored 15 points on 5-of-7 three-point shooting in a win over the Brooklyn Nets on March 21. The 24-year-old is connecting on 41.7 percent of his attempts behind the arc this season.

Milwaukee (46-26) sits in second place in the Eastern Conference with a two-game lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
