Cam Newton finally explained his most famous meme.

The former NFL quarterback said during Monday's 4th & 1 podcast that the meme of him sliding down the bench while he was a member of the New England Patriots came after wideout N'Keal Harry claimed he averaged 40 points a game in high school as a basketball player:

The basis for the meme has been a mystery since 2020, when Newton declined to offer insight into the moment after it went viral.

"It's better to let people wonder what we were talking about rather than actually know it, and to be honest with you, I don't even know," he told reporters at the time.

But now, finally, we know.
