Cowboys' Trevon Diggs Hypes Brother Stefon, Texans WRs After Trade with Bills
April 3, 2024
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs seemingly hyped up the Houston Texans' receiving corps following their acquisition of his brother, Stefon Diggs, on Wednesday.
Trevon took to X to post about "3 #1's," which is an apparent reference to the Texans having a receiver group comprised of Stefon Diggs, Nico Collins and Tank Dell:
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Bills agreed to send Diggs, a 2024 sixth-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick to the Texans in exchange for the Minnesota Vikings' 2025 second-round pick.
While Stefon Diggs is coming off a down year by his standards, he was named a Pro Bowler for the fourth time in four seasons with the Bills, and he recorded 107 receptions for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns.
Diggs will join two of the best young receivers in football in Collins and Dell, both of whom were big-time weapons for quarterback C.J. Stroud last season en route to Stroud being named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
The 25-year-old Collins enjoyed a career year in his third NFL season, finishing with 80 catches for 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns.
Dell, who was a 2023 third-round pick, missed six games due to injury last season but still delivered 47 grabs for 709 yards and seven scores.
The 30-year-old Diggs struggled mightily in the second half of last season to the tune of 37 catches for 349 yards and one touchdown over his final eight regular-season games, but there is still a strong case to be made for the Texans having the NFL's best receiving corps with his addition.
Even if Diggs is exiting his prime, he brings some valuable experience to an otherwise young group of receivers.
Along with Diggs, Collins and Dell, Stroud will have the benefit of throwing to productive tight end Dalton Schultz in 2024. Plus, the Texans have a new starting running back in the form of longtime Cincinnati Bengals star Joe Mixon.
The Texans have the benefit of a quarterback on a rookie contract, meaning they can afford to load up around him and attempt to contend for a Super Bowl.
It remains to be seen if Diggs is the piece that will put them over the top, but after the Texans won the AFC South and won a playoff game during Stroud's rookie season, they have a chance to go on an even deeper run in 2024 after adding more talent to support their rising star under center.
