Rams' Puka Nacua Says Cooper Kupp Is on 'Revenge Tour' amid Offseason Training
April 4, 2024
The rest of the league can't say Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua didn't warn them if teammate Cooper Kupp returns to dominant form in 2024.
"I've been training with Coop, so it's been good," Nacua said during an appearance on The Rush with Maxx Crosby (h/t Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk). "He's on a revenge tour. He's been able to get a healthy offseason and stuff so he's back at it."
Kupp was limited to nine games in 2022 because of an ankle injury and missed time last season with a hamstring injury on his way to 12 games.
The injury-shortened campaigns came after one of the greatest individual seasons in NFL history.
Kupp led the league in catches (145), receiving yards (1,947) and receiving touchdowns (16) as the Offensive Player of the Year in 2021. That alone would have been an incredible season, but he ended up leading the Rams to a Lombardi Trophy as the Super Bowl LVI MVP with eight catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns in the win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
He also posted 183 yards and a score in the divisional-round win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and 142 receiving yards and two touchdowns in the NFC Championship Game win over the San Francisco 49ers.
That version of Kupp returning in 2024 would make the Rams all the more difficult to stop since Nacua consistently requires double-teams and safeties to shift his direction.
The BYU product was a Pro Bowler as a rookie last season with 105 catches for 1,486 yards and six touchdowns. He far exceeded the expectations that were in place after Los Angeles selected him with a fifth-round draft pick and will likely build on his performance heading into his second season.
Nacua and Kupp could be one of the best one-two receiving combinations in the league during the upcoming campaign, especially with Matthew Stafford throwing them the ball.
If they live up to that potential, the Rams could take the next step after reaching the Wild Card Round last season.
