Mavs' Kyrie Irving Says Steph Curry 'Set the Bar' for NBA PGs: 'Chasing His Legacy'

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is the measuring stick in the eyes of the Dallas Mavericks' Kyrie Irving.
Following a 108-106 victory over Golden State, Irving told reporters that Curry "set the bar for a lot of us point guards (and) where we want to be."
"We're still chasing his legacy," the eight-time All-Star added.
Joey Mistretta @JoeyMistretta_Kyrie Irving gave me a great answer when I asked him about playing against Stephen Curry <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Mavericks?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Mavericks</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Warriors?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Warriors</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/MFFL?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#MFFL</a> <a href="https://t.co/LaUTUi0KGq">pic.twitter.com/LaUTUi0KGq</a>
There's unquestionably a subset of NBA fans who consider Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson to be the greatest point guard ever, and he probably remains the consensus choice.
In the same way Magic made people rethink what a point guard could be, though, Curry has written a new blueprint for others to follow. Beyond the individual and team accolades the 36-year-old has enjoyed, his signature style has been emulated by his peers and filtered down to lower levels of the sport.
Whereas younger players a generation or two ago wanted to be the next Magic, now Curry is the player a lot of aspiring point guards will have in mind. And it could be a long time before another playmaker comes along who can surpass or even match his broad influence.
