Report: NFL Draft Prospect T'Vondre Sweat to Visit Seahawks, Titans After DWI Arrest
April 8, 2024
NFL draft prospect T'Vondre Sweat is flying to Tennessee on Monday to visit with the Titans, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, a day after he was arrested and charged with DWI in Austin.
Sweat, who was released after posting a $3,000 bond, will also visit with the Seattle Seahawks later this week.
Coming into the pre-draft process, Sweat looked likely to be a Day 2 pick. The B/R NFL Scouting Department labeled the defensive tackle as a "High-Level Backup/Potential Starter" and graded him as a third-round prospect, ranking him as the No. 65 overall player in the draft.
The 22-year-old was both the Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2023 and the Outland Trophy winner as the best interior lineman, creating havoc for opposing offenses against the run.
At the NFL level, he projects as a run-stuffing nose tackle, though there remain questions about whether he can have a positive impact as a pass-rusher.
There will potentially be concerns for teams following Sunday's arrest as well:
Dane Brugler @dpbruglerAccording to a team source, Sweat has been up front with NFL teams about his "partying" as an underclassman. And made it a point of emphasis in interviews that it was all in the past.

Obviously, today's incident (3 wks from the NFL Draft) won't help answer any concerns w/ teams. https://t.co/6QscOpRnVt
In five seasons at Texas, Sweat registered five sacks, 17.5 tackles for loss, 13 passes deflected, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. He paired with Byron Murphy II—a first-round prospect at this year's draft—in the interior of the Longhorns' defensive line, a duo that helped lead them to a Big 12 title and College Football Playoff berth.
As for the Titans, the team has star Jeffery Simmons at defensive tackle alongside players like Sebastian Joseph-Day and Keondre Coburn, but the team could look to beef up the run defense by adding the massive Sweat to the rotation.
In Seattle, the Seahawks prioritized the interior of the line this offseason, re-signing star defensive tackle Leonard Williams while signing nose tackle Johnathan Hankins. Drafting Sweat would continue to add muscle to the spine of the team's defense, though it remains to be seen if his pending legal situation will prompt a drop down the board at the NFL draft.
