Over the past decade, no one golfer has dominated the Masters Tournament, which is among the most prestigious events in the sport. In fact, a different man has won the tourney in each of the past 11 years, nine of whom were first-time champions.

That trend could continue this year, as the 2024 edition of the Masters is set to begin Thursday at Augusta National Golf Club. Scottie Scheffler (the 2022 champion) is the betting favorite to win, while Jon Rahm (the 2023 champion) aims to become the first back-to-back winner of the event since Tiger Woods (2001 and 2002).

The Masters is often won by top-ranked golfers, but there have been some surprise champions over the years. So it's possible an under-the-radar golfer ends up atop the leaderboard by the end of the day Sunday.

Here are the odds for this year's Masters, followed by a look at some golfers who could be good sleeper picks to bet on.

Corey Conners (+6500)

Last year, Corey Conners missed the cut at the Masters, shooting a 73 in the first round followed by a 79 in the second round. But he's typically fared much better at Augusta National since first playing there in 2015.

Conners recorded three straight top-10 Masters finishes from 2020-22, with his best showing coming in 2022, when he placed sixth. He had six rounds with a score of 70 or better during that span, so the 32-year-old has proven he can play this course well in the past.

Heading into this year's Masters, Conners has been playing solid golf. He's made the cut at all eight tournaments he's played in 2024, which included tying for 13th at the Players Championship in mid-March.

Conners' odds are a bit longer than they should be, especially because of his Masters history. Don't be surprised if he rebounds from last year's tough performance in Augusta.

Rickie Fowler (+13000)

It's been a while since Rickie Fowler has played in the Masters Tournament, having not made an appearance in the tournament since 2020. But whenever he shows up to Augusta National, he typically puts together a solid showing.

Fowler has made the cut in nine of his 10 Masters appearances, finishing 12th or better five times in his career. He was even the runner-up in 2018, when he finished 14 under par (one stroke behind champion Patrick Reed).

The 35-year-old Fowler hasn't played his best golf of late. He missed the cut at the Valero Texas Open this past weekend, and he hasn't finished better than 35th at a tournament this year.

But never count out Fowler at the Masters. His return to the tournament in Augusta could come with another strong performance.

Gary Woodland (+30000)

What a great story it would be if Gary Woodland has a strong showing at the Masters. The 39-year-old underwent brain surgery to remove a lesion last September, and he's now back on the PGA Tour playing in tournaments again.

Woodland is still working on getting his swing back, as he's missed the cut at five of his eight events in 2024. But he tied for 21st at the Houston Open in late March and could be building some positive momentum.

Although Woodland doesn't have a long track record of Masters success, he had his best showing at the tournament last year. He placed 14th in the 2023 iteration after a strong start (a 68 in the opening round).

The Masters has had some great moments over the years, and a Woodland surprise victory would rank up there among the best.
