Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield, Wife Emily Announce Birth of Daughter Kova

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield and his wife, Emily Mayfield, announced the birth of their first child Saturday.

The Bucs posted a photo on X of Baker holding his daughter named Kova Jade Mayfield:

It has been a great offseason for Mayfield thus far, as he also signed a three-year, $100 million contract extension to remain in Tampa.

After winning the Heisman Trophy at he University of Oklahoma, Mayfield was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft. He reached the playoffs once in four seasons with the Browns, but they moved on after the 2021 season when they acquired quarterback Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans.

Mayfield was traded to the Carolina Panthers and was then waived after going 1-5 in six starts, which led to him finishing the 2022 campaign with the Los Angeles Rams.

Following the retirement of Tom Brady, the Bucs signed Mayfield last offseason with the intention of allowing him to compete with Kyle Trask for the starting quarterback job.

Mayfield won he job and never looked back, as he led Tampa to an NFC South title and was named a Pro Bowler for the first time by virtue of completing 64.3 percent of his passes for 4,044 yards, 28 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

If that wasn't enough, the Buccaneers upset the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Wild Card Round of the playoffs before falling to the Detroit Lions in the Divisional Round.

Mayfield earned a new, long-term contract with his performance, and he has finally found a home in Tampa Bay.

On top of that, Mayfield's 29th birthday is Sunday, meaning he can celebrate both that and the birth of his daughter.
