Anthony Edwards Takes Blame for Wolves' G3 Loss vs. Nuggets: 'I Let My Team Down'
May 11, 2024
Anthony Edwards is taking full responsibility for the Minnesota Timberwolves blowout Game 3 loss to the Denver Nuggets.
Minnesota's loss was a setback for a team that had just taken a 2-0 lead over the defending champions, and Edwards expressed that he wants to "take the blame for this loss."
"It's on me," Edwards said. "I'll take the blame for this loss. I came out with no energy at all. I can't afford to do that for my team. I let my team down, the fans down."
Edwards led Minnesota with 19 points and also contributed six rebounds and six assists. While this is not necessarily a lackluster output, it was his lowest total since Game 1 of the first round.
This was not going to be enough to take down a Nuggets team that boasts 2024 MVP Nikola Jokić and were desperate for a win after dropping the opening two games. It was Minnesota's first loss of the postseason and will be something the team needs to work through in order to go on a run.
Still, the Timberwolves are in good shape with the series lead and a win in Game 4 would really give it three chances to seal the series and move to the Conference Finals for the first time since 2004.
Game 4 is set to tip off Sunday at 8 P.M. ET.
