Insatiable appetites for the NFL mean everything about the league takes on an event mentality, including its schedule release.

Fans eagerly anticipate leaks, wondering who their team is going to play when hoping to get a jump on what the upcoming season may look like.

Luckily for them, insiders, columnists, and sports directors from local television networks have them covered.

Ahead of Wednesday's official schedule release, here are two rumors surrounding some of the season's most intriguing games.

New Quarterbacks, New Teams Battle in Week One

We will not have to wait long to find out how Russell Wilson and Kirk Cousins look in their new threads when the Pittsburgh Steelers travel to Atlanta to battle the Falcons in Week One, per Zach Klein, Sports Director for WSB-Channel 2 in Atlanta.

Multiple sources around the league tell me the Falcons will open up the NFL season at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers and former HC and current Steelers OC Arthur Smith

Both Cousins and Wilson were among the most high-profile free agent additions this offseason, but neither prominent signal-caller is without competition looking over their shoulder.

The Steelers followed up the acquisition of Wilson by trading for Justin Fields of the Chicago Bears. The Falcons caught Cousins and the entire football world off-guard by drafting Michael Penix Jr.

Cousins will likely have a longer leash as Penix learns the NFL game and Falcons system, but the intrigue and drama surrounding both situations make the season opener between Atlanta and Pittsburgh one of the most must-see games of the first Sunday of the season and that is without knowing exactly what the rest of the slate has to offer.

A Super Bowl Match-Up in Week 7

Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs back from 10 down to defeat the San Francisco 49ers in overtime in Super Bowl LVIII.

Eight months after the epic game, which saw the Chiefs win their second world title in a row, third overall, and second against the 49ers, the two teams will clash on Sunday, October 20.

Jordan Schultz reported the hotly anticipated rematch will be the 4:25 p.m. game on Fox.

Much will be made of the offenses involved, including Mahomes and Niners quarterback Brock Purdy, but the difference may be in the teams' defensive performances.

San Francisco said goodbye to Arik Armstead, Randy Gregory, Javon Kinlaw, Sebastian Joseph-Day, and Chase Young this offseason while the Chiefs traded their best cover corner, L'Jarius Snead to the Tennessee Titans.

The unit that can hold up best against the high-powered offense across the field will likely determine the outcome of this one, which may very well play out again next February in New Orleans.
