Former UFC star Darren Till is trading in his MMA gloves for a pair of boxing gloves.

Per MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, Till is set to make his professional boxing debut against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. as part of the undercard of the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight that will be streamed live on Netflix on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Helwani added that the fight will be contested over six three-minute rounds with a weight limit of 190 pounds.

"I'm very happy with my opponent," Till said in a statement, per ESPN's Andreas Hale. "I've been a fan of his father for many years and I've been a fan of Chavez Jr. too - he is a great fighter who I respect, but make no mistake about it, I am coming to knock him out in the first round. I am happy with where I am in life, and I am coming to make a statement on July 20th in Texas."

Till burst onto the scene when he debuted in the UFC in 2015, going unbeaten in his first six fights on his way to earning a shot at the welterweight title in 2018 against Tyron Woodley. He fell short with a loss by second-round submission, one of five losses in his last six fights with the UFC. He struggled to find success after moving up to middleweight, and his last fight with the company came in December 2022 in a third-round submission loss to current middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis that ended his run with a record of 18-5-1.

Till was released from his contract last year to pursue other interests. He was rumored to be considering joining Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships to challenge Mike Perry, but he shut down that notion while speaking to Helwani during an appearance on The MMA Hour on Monday.

Till will be facing a tough test in his first boxing match. Chavez, the son of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez, is a former WBC middleweight champion and has a career record of 53-6-1. This will be his second time facing a former MMA fighter, as he dropped a split decision to UFC Hall of Famer Anderson Silva in 2021. He last fought in December of that year and earned a unanimous decision win over David Zegarra.

Also announced for the Tyson-Paul undercard is a matchup between undefeated lightweight prospects H2O Sylve (11-0, 9 KOs) and Floyd "Kid Austin" Schofield (17-0, 12 KOs). The card will also feature a highly anticipated rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, so fans will be in for an exciting night of fights on July 20.
