Ahead of Saturday's Preakness Stakes, eight three-year-old fillies competed in the 100th running of the historic dirt race that spans 1 1/8 miles. The event took place at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland.

The winning time of 1:51.39 represented a slight step down from 2023 winner Taxed, who recorded a 1:49.35 time.

After entering the race as the favorite with 2-1 odds, Gun Song pulled away with a win to give jockey John Velazquez his fifth career victory in the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes. Gun Song is trained by Mark Hennig and owned by R. Lee Lewis.

Jeanne Marie jumped out to a quick start and challenged for the lead before quickly falling and eventually finishing in sixth place as Gun Song made a push to the front of the field. Rounding out the top three were Corposo at No. 2 and Call Another Play at No. 3.
