Rookies Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso are the future of the Chicago Sky.

So it wasn't a surprise when the pair of former NCAA champions was given the honor of throwing out the first pitch for Tuesday's matchup between the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field:

Reese has hit the ground running in her professional career, averaging 11.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and one steal per game during Chicago's 1-1 start to the season.

Cardoso has yet to play this season as she recovers from a shoulder injury, though her return appears to be close:

Teresa Weatherspoon confirms that Kamilla Cardoso will make her return June 1.

That news was originally shared on Cardoso's Instagram livestream.

Today was Cardoso's first day back at practice. She didn't fully participate, but Weatherspoon said it was great to have her back out there.

Cardoso was the No. 3 overall selection in this year's WNBA draft, while Reese went No. 7. The two should offer the Sky a formidable frontcourt for many years to come.
