Golfer Grayson Murray died Saturday morning at the age of 30.

"We were devastated to learn – and are heartbroken to share – that PGA TOUR player Grayson Murray passed away this morning. I am at a loss for words," PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said. "The PGA TOUR is a family, and when you lose a member of your family, you are never the same. We mourn Grayson and pray for comfort for his loved ones."

In a statement released on Sunday, Murray's parents confirmed he died by suicide:

According to Ryan Lavner of NBC Sports, Murray withdrew from the Charles Schwab Challenge late in the second round of the tournament Friday, citing an illness.

After playing collegiately at Wake Forest, East Carolina and Arizona State, Murray turned pro in 2015 and began playing in 2016 on the Web.com Tour, which is now known as the Korn Ferry Tour.

On the heels of earning his PGA Tour card, he won the 2017 Barbasol Championship in his first year on tour.

The Raleigh, North Carolina, resident got back in the PGA Tour win column earlier this year, winning the 2024 Sony Open in a playoff over Keegan Bradley and An Byeong-hun in January.

Murray played in both the Masters and PGA Championship this year, finishing 51st in the Masters and tied for 43rd at the PGA Championship just last week.

Truly devastating news that Grayson Murray has passed away. He asked me for some advice on how to play Augusta a few months ago, last week I saw him at the PGA Championship, life truly is precious. My condolences and prayers to his whole family that they may find some peace 💔

He was once ranked as high as No. 46 in the world golf rankings and was ranked No. 58 entering this week.
