There is still a great deal of uncertainty surrounding who will be playing in the Stanley Cup Final since both the Eastern Conference Finals and Western Conference Finals are currently deadlocked.

In the East, the Florida Panthers and New York Rangers are knotted at 2-2, as are the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars out West.

Regardless of how the series play out, there is guaranteed to be either a first-time Stanley Cup winner or a winner who hasn't won the Cup in at least 25 years.

Led by Matthew Tkachuk, Sam Reinhart, Aleksander Barkov and Co., the Panthers reached the Stanley Cup Final last season, but they have yet to win their first Cup in franchise history.

Their Eastern Conference Finals opponents, the Rangers, have won four Cups, but they haven't done so since 1994 when team captain Mark Messier guaranteed a Game 6 win, leading to New York beating the. Vancouver Canucks for the Cup in Game 7.

The Oilers won five Cups from 1984 to 1990 with a core led by Wayne Gretzky and Messier, but this is the closest they have been to another Cup victory since reaching the Stanley Cup Final in 2006.

Edmonton has been unable to make it to the Cup Final in recent years despite boasting the superstar duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, but they are now just two wins away.

The Stars won their first and only Stanley Cup in 1999, and they have fallen short of winning another Cup in two subsequent Final appearances.

They most recently went the distance in 2020, falling to the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games.

If both the Eastern and Western Conference Finals go the distance, the ECF will end on June 3, and the WCF will end on June 4, giving both teams ample rest before the start of the Stanley Cup Final.
