Fantasy Alert: Chiefs' Rumored Strategy for WR Xavier Worthy Revealed amid Injury
June 2, 2024
The Kansas City Chiefs aren't sweating the fact rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy has recently been sidelined for offseason workouts due to a hamstring issue, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Fowler reported Sunday on SportsCenter the reigning Super Bowl champions "have noticed he's a very quick study."
"He's trying to learn this playbook to be ready to play on Day 1," Fowler said. "He knows with his speed they're going to have him in motion, shifts, inside, outside so he wants to absorb it all mentally behind the scenes."
Worthy was only two days into Kansas City's offseason workouts when he picked up a minor hamstring injury. As a result, he has had to watch the majority of OTAs from the sideline.

Even before workouts were underway, the former Texas star was making a strong impression on the coaching staff. Fowler reported on May 12 he was "soaking up the playbook."
It's tough to know how exactly the Chiefs will deploy Worthy once the season kicks off. He didn't post huge numbers in college (197 receptions for 2,755 yards and 26 touchdowns in three seasons), but one can imagine what kind of impact his record-breaking speed may have on the passing game.
Fantasy football managers who got burned by Skyy Moore or to a lesser extent Rashee Rice might be a little wary of placing too much faith in another Chiefs draft pick. First-year pass-catchers in general are a bit of a mixed bag too.
But everything coming out of Kansas City is striking an encouraging tone with Worthy.
