Belmont Stakes 2024 Payout: Prize Money Purse and Triple Crown Order of Finish
June 8, 2024
Dornoch is the first horse to win the Belmont Stakes in Saratoga, New York.
Trainer Danny Gargan earned his first Triple Crown win as Dornoch pulled ahead down the stretch Saturday at Saratoga Race Course.
Mindframe made a late effort to upset Dornoch, but 2021 Belmont Stakes-winning jockey Luis Saez held off the challenge.
Seize the Grey ran at the front for most of the race but fell back down the stretch, while Sierra Leone pulled forward to finish third.
Here's a breakdown of the order of finish and payouts after the 1 1/4-mile race.

The race was held in Saratoga due to construction at Belmont Park, the 161-year home of the oldest Triple Crown race.
The change in venue necessitated an adjustment in the length of the race, cutting it 1/2 mile shorter than the traditional course. Instead competitors ran 1 1/4 miles, the same distance as the Kentucky Derby.
Mystik Dan, winner of the 2024 Derby and Preakness runner-up, finished in eighth. No horse has won the Derby, lost the Preakness and come back to win the Belmont since Thunder Gulch in 1995, per ESPN's Lane Gold.
Dornoch now joins Mystik Dan and Preakness winner Seize the Grey as winners of the 2024 Triple Crown races.
This marks the sixth straight year that each race has been won by a different horse, the Associated Press noted. A bid to become the first Triple Crown winner since Justify in 2018 will have to wait until 2025.
