Aaron Judge believes his new teammate should be the American League MVP this season.

Judge spoke highly of New York Yankees right fielder Juan Soto, saying he would vote for him for MVP.

"Juan's definitely got my vote based on what he's done all year, coming up big to making great defensive plays," Judge said, per the New York Post's Jon Heyman. "The guy's always on base for me. He makes my job a lot easier. He and [Anthony] Volpe are the engine of this offense."

In his first season as a Yankee, Soto has 18 home runs, 55 RBI and a .319 batting average—all of those numbers being top-five in the majors so far this year.

Soto has three All-Star appearances and four Silver Slugger awards under his belt, but he's still looking to earn his first MVP, and this could be the year he does it. He's helped lead the Yankees to a 50-23 record and the team currently sits atop the AL East.

But Soto's biggest competition for MVP could be Judge, as the 2022 AL MVP is having an outstanding season of his own. Judge has a .300 batting average and leads the majors in both home runs (25), RBI (63) and OPS (1.108).

Whether Judge or Soto will be the frontrunner for AL MVP will become more clear towards the end of the season, but for now, New York is thriving with the two talents in its lineup. The Yankees are second in the majors in home runs, just behind the Baltimore Orioles.

On the mound, New York has a 2.96 team ERA, which leads the majors this season. It's safe to say shutdown pitching and a high-powered offense is a recipe for success for the Yankees.
