Sha'Carri Richardson is looking to reach her first Olympics this summer, and she got one step closer on Friday during the opening round of the women's 100 meters.

Richardson ran a 10.88 to finish first in the first round of the 100-meter time trials, finishing several paces ahead of most of the competition.

Incredible race by Sha'Carri Richardson! 😱 <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/TrackFieldTrials24?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#TrackFieldTrials24</a> <a href="https://t.co/UHdKfVwHgV">pic.twitter.com/UHdKfVwHgV</a>

Richardson got off to a bit of a rough start in the race but quickly recovered to finish first with an impressive time.

What's more impressive is the circumstances in which she won, as her shoelaces appeared to come untied at some point during the race. That could have added to the slight stumble she had coming out of the blocks, but it ultimately didn't make a difference.

"Definitely didn't have the start that I've been training to have in this moment," Richardson said on NBC after the race (h/t USA Today's Tyler Dragon). "But still, not panicking, staying patient and knowing that no matter what's going on, to continue to run my race."

Richardson, 24, is coming off a season in which she won her first world championship in the 100 meter. She also helped Team USA win gold with the 4x100-meter relay team and won bronze in the 200 meter.

But she's looking to take the biggest stage in the world and compete at the Olympics in Paris this July. She'll continue the quest of running for Team USA during the semifinals and finals of the US Olympic Track & Field Trials on Saturday.
