Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, More React to Mikal Bridges' Rumored Trade to Knicks
June 26, 2024
The New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets agreed in principle on a blockbuster trade that sent forward Mikal Bridges to the Knicks on Tuesday night, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Adrian Wojnarowski @wojespnBREAKING: The Brooklyn Nets have agreed in principle on a trade to send F Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks for Bojan Bogdanovic, four unprotected first-round picks, a protected first-round pick via Bucks, an unprotected pick swap and a second-rounder, sources tell ESPN. pic.twitter.com/TEGsIpoa3b
Per Wojnarowski, the Nets received four unprotected first-round picks as well as a protected first-round pick in 2025. The Knicks also sent out a 2028 unprotected pick swap as well as veteran forward Bojan Bogdanović.
It's a steep price to pay for New York, although Bridges is a major addition to a team that made it to Game 7 of the second round of the playoffs in 2024. He also reunites with several of his former college teammates at Villanova including Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo.
Brunson, Hart and several others reacted to the massive trade:
Despite the Nets' struggles throughout the 2023-24 season, Bridges' individual production remained commendable. He averaged 19.6 points and 4.5 rebounds each night on 43.6/37.2/81.4 shooting splits, starting in all 82 games with Brooklyn.
While it's a risky move for the Knicks as they attempt to contend for a title, Bridges' new teammates are clearly happy about the trade.
