As Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson enters free agency for the first time in his career, many are hoping to see him stay on the West Coast and join the Los Angeles Lakers.

Thompson's father, former Lakers great Mychal Thompson, made it clear that he's also among those hoping to see the sharpshooter wearing Purple & Gold, as he responded to fans on social media on Sunday supporting their sentiments that Thompson should sign with Los Angeles:

Mychal Thompson @champagnennuts

Sounds right to ME

Mychal Thompson @champagnennuts

Me too 🙏🏽🏀

Mychal Thompson spent the last five seasons of his career with the Lakers before he retired from the NBA in 1991. He was a member of back-to-back championship squads in Los Angeles in 1987 and 1988.

During Sunday's episode of SportsCenter, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski named Klay Thompson as one of the players the Lakers could look to pursue in free agency with the $13 million mid-level exception, provided that star forward LeBron James takes a pay cut in his new deal with the team.

The 34-year-old averaged 17.9 points while shooting 38.7 percent from three-point range last season for the Warriors, so he would provide some much-needed floor spacing around James and star forward Anthony Davis.

Thompson will surely have a long list of suitors when he hits the open market, so it remains to be seen if his dad will get his wish of seeing his son playing for his former team.
