Yankees' 2024 MLB Draft Guide and Top Prospects to Target

The New York Yankees have the No. 26 overall pick in the 2024 MLB draft, and that means who they take in the first round will largely depend on how the draft unfolds ahead of them.
It's the second year in a row that the Yankees have the No. 26 pick, and last year they used it on Florida prep shortstop George Lombard Jr. who is currently hitting .230/.364/.319 with 15 extra-base hits and 23 steals in 56 games at Single-A Tampa.
Who might the Yankees be targeting this time around?
Ahead we've broken down three prospects who should be on the Yankees radar when their pick comes up in the 2024 MLB draft.
OF Dakota Jordan, Mississippi State

With loud raw power, Dakota Jordan fits the mold of player the Yankees have targeted in the past when picking late in the first round.
The draft-eligible sophomore hit .354/.459/.671 with 20 home runs and 72 RBI in 63 games this spring as one of the nation's top power threats, and he also has good natural speed on the bases and in the outfield. He was a 3-star wide receiver recruit out of high school who originally planned on playing baseball and football before shifting his full attention to baseball.
The question mark is his hit tool, and he struck out 84 times at a 29.0 percent clip this spring. If the Yankees believe in his swing and ability to make the necessary adjustments, his power is the real deal.
SS Luke Dickerson, Morris Knolls HS (NJ)
Luke Dickerson has as much late helium as any player in the 2024 draft class, to the point that he has gone from largely off the Day 1 radar to potentially slotting in somewhere late in the first round.
The New Jersey prep standout got a late start to his spring baseball season while helping lead Morris Knolls High School to a state title in hockey, but once he finally took the field he quickly emerged as one of the top cold weather preps in the country.
The Yankees have had some success with that demographic in the past, most notably plucking Anthony Volpe from the New Jersey prep ranks, so there is some history to pull from with this potential target.
1B/3B Tommy White, LSU

Tommy White has been an elite offensive performer at the college level since hitting .362/.425/.757 with 27 home runs and 74 RBI during his true freshman season at NC State, and that production continued following his transfer to LSU.
After a 24-homer, 105-RBI campaign in 2023, he closed out his terrific three-year collegiate career by batting .330/.401/.638 with 24 home runs and 70 RBI in 66 games this spring.
He is limited defensively and will likely wind up moving across the diamond to first base in pro ball, which puts extra pressure on his bat. The right-handed hitting, first-base-only prospect is a risky profile, but White's 75 home runs in 187 collegiate games are tough to ignore.
