2026 QB Dereon Coleman Commits to Miami; 4-Star Had Offers from Texas A&M, Oklahoma
July 3, 2024
The Miami Hurricanes are building up the future depth of the quarterback room.
2026 three-star quarterback Dereon Coleman committed to the Hurricanes Wednesday, becoming the third player in the program's 2026 recruiting class.
He had received 20 total scholarship offers and chose Miami over programs like Texas A&M, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska, per 247 Sports.
The 6'1", 165-pound rising junior currently plays at Jones High School in Orlando, FL. During his sophomore season, he threw for 2,236 yards, 16 touchdowns and six interceptions while rushing for 247 yards and four touchdowns while leading the Tigers to a 10-3 record and a run to the state semi-finals.
He is rated as the No. 302 player in the Class of 2026, the No. 21 quarterback and the 43rd-best player in Florida, per 247's composite rankings. He notably attended the Hurricanes camp in June, just six days after receiving an official offer from the University.
He still has two more high school seasons before he steps foot on campus in Coral Gables and will have some competition when he finally arrives. The Hurricanes have Judd Anderson and Luke Nickel committed in the Classes of 2024 and 2025 respectively. Miami will likely trot out Cam Ward as the starter in the 2024 season.
