Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott allayed concerns over a photo that showed him wearing a walking boot.

While it is unclear when the photo was taken, it went viral Wednesday when it was posted on X:

In a text to Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Prescott downplayed the idea that he was dealing with any sort of significant issue, writing, "I'm great."

Prescott went on to add that he was wearing the walking boot for precautionary reasons since "the last time I went deep sea fishing my [ankle] swole up."

He also made it a point to note that the ankle in question is "the same ankle, same issues," in reference to the ankle he fractured in 2020.

Despite Prescott's account of the walking boot situation, ESPN's Todd Archer reported Thursday that he was wearing it due to a minor right foot sprain.

Archer went on to add that Prescott was no longer wearing the walking boot as of Thursday and that the foot ailment is not expected to impact his availability when training camp opens July 25.

When asked about the report regarding the foot injury, Prescott told Hill, "People be reaching, man."

The 30-year-old Prescott is coming off the best statistical season of his career, as he completed 69.5 percent of his passes for 4,516 yards, a league-leading 36 touchdowns and nine interceptions, while also rushing for 242 yards and two scores.

Prescott was rewarded with the third Pro Bowl selection of his career, plus he was named a Second Team All-Pro, and he finished second in the NFL MVP voting behind only Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Dallas went 12-5 and won the NFC East last season, but the team experienced another massive playoff disappointment, losing at home to the seventh-seeded Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round.

As good as Prescott was statistically last season, he enters the 2024 campaign facing an uncertain future.

Prescott has just one year remaining on his contract, and he could become a free agent after the 2024 season if he and the Cowboys are unable to come to terms on a new deal.

If the Cowboys decide against re-signing Prescott and opt to go in a different direction, Prescott will likely be among the most highly sought-after free-agent quarterbacks in recent memory.
