Philadelphia 76ers superstar center Joel Embiid is enjoying the opportunity to play alongside many of the NBA's top players as part of the United States Olympic basketball team.

Speaking to Joe Vardon of The Athletic, Embiid discussed the comfort and ease of playing on such a stacked team, saying: "I'm having the time of my life. I don't have to do anything [because he is playing with stars], so I'm happy just chilling, just hanging out and doing the little things."

When Embiid plays for the Sixers, he is almost always the No. 1 scoring option, and he usually has to produce robust stat lines for Philly to succeed.

The 7-footer led the NBA in scoring with over 30 points per game in both 2021-22 and 2022-23, winning the 2022-23 NBA MVP Award in the process.

While injuries limited him to 39 games last season, it was the same story when he played, as he put up a career-high 34.7 points per contest.

As a member of Team USA, Embiid scoring over 30 points will never be a must since he can lean on other superstars such as LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and a host of others.

The United States improved to 3-0 in its exhibition slate Wednesday with a 105-79 drubbing of three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokić-led Serbia, and it did so without Embiid having a huge statistical game.

While he grabbed eight rebounds, Embiid had only eight points on 2-of-8 shooting, but it didn't matter.

Once the Olympics start, Embiid also figures to benefit from being part of an impressive big man rotation along with Bam Adebayo and Anthony Davis.

No NBA team has three big men of that caliber on their roster, but since Team USA does, it will be fairly easy to keep all of them fresh.

Embiid had the choice to play for the United States, France or Cameroon, but he committed to Team USA due in large part to the fact that his son was born in the U.S.

It likely didn't hurt that the United States has won four consecutive Olympic gold medals in men's basketball, and with Embiid on the squad, they are huge favorites to make it five in a row.

Team USA has two more exhibition games scheduled against South Sudan on Saturday and Germany next Monday before traveling to France and beginning Olympic group play against Serbia on July 28.
