Joseph Zucker@@JosephZuckerUSA, France, Canada and All Rosters Set for 2024 Olympic Men's Basketball in Paris

Only two days remain before the men's basketball tournament tips off in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, and it could be the most competitive edition for some time.
The 12 teams are split among three groups, and the top two will advance along with the two best third-place finishers. The quarterfinals get underway Aug. 6, with all roads leading to the gold-medal game on Aug. 10.
The United States enters as the favorite thanks to a team headlined by LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Joel Embiid and Jayson Tatum. But there's plenty of star talent dispersed across the field.
Canada boasts Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jamal Murray. Serbia and Greece each have a pair of former MVPs with Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo respectively. Host country France has the formidable frontcourt duo of Rudy Gobert and Victor Wembanyama.

Serbia Schedule
It would be unfair to call Serbia a one-man team, but the country is clearly putting a lot on Jokic's shoulders. The opening game against the United States will be a major test for how far Serbia can go with Jokic and Bogdan Bogdanovic.
Australia
- Dyson Daniels

Australia was the bronze medalist at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, and another trip to the podium could beckon in Paris. The Boomers have a good mix of experience (Matthew Dellavedova and Patty Mills) and emerging stars (Josh Giddey, Josh Green and Dyson Daniels) who will be stalwarts for the national team.
Canada

Despite sitting seventh in the FIBA rankings, Canada might be the biggest threat to the United States. Gilgeous-Alexander was an NBA MVP finalist in 2023-24, and he's joined by a strong supporting cast. Murray can help shoulder some of the scoring burden, while Luguentz Dort and Dillon Brooks form a strong pairing on defense.

France Roster
France Schedule
France is a three-time silver medalist in the Summer Games and a fourth could be in the cards on home soil. Les Bleus boast a number of NBA veterans across the roster, while the Gobert/Wembanyama frontcourt could be a defensive force.
Wembanyama was arguably better than advertised as a rookie, averaging 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.6 blocks with the San Antonio Spurs.

Brazil Roster
Brazil Schedule
As with Spain, many of the stars fans have come to associate with Brazil are long gone. Tiago Splitter is actually an assistant on the coaching staff.
Outside of 41-year-old Marcelinho Huertas, there isn't much star power at coach Aleksandar Petrovic's disposal.

Greece Roster

As difficult as it is for Antetokounmpo to get the Milwaukee Bucks to the NBA Finals in a given season, leading Greece to the medal podium might be an even bigger challenge. It doesn't help the Greeks were drawn in the strongest group of the tournament.

Puerto Rico Roster
Puerto Rico Schedule
New Orleans Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado symbolizes his national team as a whole because Puerto Rico is a major underdog that will need to rely on effort and luck to get very far. The country doesn't match up well against pretty much anybody else in the field.
Japan

- Rui Hachimura
- Josh Hawkinson
- Makoto Hiejima
- Akira Jacobs
- Yuki Kawamura
- Kai Toews

Japan Roster
Japan Schedule
Rui Hachimura and Yuta Watanabe are the two most recognizable teams on the roster, which is an indication of how Japan is likely to fare. Maybe Hachimura can at least have a big game or two with a much larger role than he's accustomed to occupying with the Los Angeles Lakers.
South Sudan

- Peter Jok
- Carlik Jones
- Kuany Kuany

Simply getting to the Olympics was a massive achievement for South Sudan, which only officially joined FIBA in 2013.
Khaman Maluach will be a player to watch in what's likely to be the country's brief stay in Paris. The 7'1" center, who enrolled at Duke, was the sixth-best overall player in 247Sports' composite rankings for the 2024 recruiting class.
