The New York Yankees are hoping to land an All-Star before the trade deadline, but it may be unlikely.

Per USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Yankees "would love" to trade for Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon, but it's unlikely the team will be willing to part with him this season.

"The Yankees would love to get their hands on McMahon and play him at third base," Nightengale wrote. "He's an All-Star and is having a monster season. But sorry, the Rockies love him, he's under contract for three more years, and they're not even listening to offers for him."

As Nightengale noted, McMahon is in the third year of a six-year, $70 million contract, and it would be hard for the Rockies to give up a value player like him.

The eighth-year player is having a career season with 15 homers, 47 RBI and a .264 batting average through 102 games. Assuming his production continues at a similar rate he could have career highs in all three categories this year.

While Colorado likely considered selling at the deadline as it sits at the bottom of the NL West at 36-68 on the year, a player like McMahon is too valuable to give away in return for prospects.

Unless the Yankees can put together an enticing deal, it seems McMahon will remain in the Mile High City.
