Jorge Soler is returning to the team he led to a championship.

The San Francisco Giants announced they will send Soler and reliever Luke Jackson to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for Sabin Ceballos and Tyler Matzek.

ESPN's Jeff Passan first reported the deal.

Soler was traded to the Braves from the Kansas City Royals in 2021, and that trade resulted in a World Series victory and Soler winning the World Series MVP.

In 93 games this season, Soler has 12 homers, 40 RBI and a .240 batting average. When Soler was dealt to Atlanta in 2021, he had similar numbers leading up to the trade with 13 homers and 37 RBI through 94 games.

Upon joining the Braves, he finished the season strong and went on to shine in the postseason. Now back with Atlanta, he'll hope for similar results.

Jackson, also a member of the Braves 2021 World Series team, has 33 strikeouts, a 5.40 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP in 36 appearances. Like Soler, Jackson had some of the best numbers of his career while in Atlanta, and he'll look to replicate that success in his second stint with the team.

The Braves took early injury blows with starting pitcher Spencer Strider undergoing season-injury surgery after just two starts, reigning MVP Ronald Acuña Jr. suffering a torn ACL and Michael Harris sustaining a hamstring injury. In July, Ozzie Albies suffered a fractured wrist, joining starting pitcher Max Fried on the injured list.

Even with all the stars out, Atlanta sits in second place in the NL East at 56-49 on the year. With the laundry list of injuries, the Braves are hoping Soler and Jackson can help lead them to a big postseason.
