Tyreek Hill Says Fight at Dolphins Training Camp 'Was Amazing. We Need That'
July 31, 2024
A fight broke out during Tuesday's practice at Miami Dolphins training camp, but star receiver Tyreek Hill sees it as a positive.
After running back Jaylen Wright got into it with cornerback Kader Kahou and the rest of the team jumped in, Hill told reporters he believes it was the type of fire the Dolphins will need if they hope to be successful this year.
"I think the fight we had today was amazing. We need that. Teams that I've been on that won, those teams fought," Hill said, per Kaushik Sampath of the Miami Herald (h/t Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk). "They aren't going to fight in the locker room. This is where you fight. Then right after the play you calm yourself down, in between the whistle you're right back at it with no mental errors."
After practice, star cornerback Jalen Ramsey reportedly gave an impassioned speech about playing with a certain edge, which is something Miami has not been known for in recent years:
The Dolphins were in the driver's seat for the AFC East title for the majority of the 2023 season before they lost to the Buffalo Bills in the regular-season finale. Miami was then bounced out of the playoffs in the AFC Wild Card Round, and the team hasn't won a playoff game since the 2000 campaign.
After a solid offseason in which they plugged multiple holes on their roster, the Dolphins are hoping for a better finish this year. If Hill is correct about the benefits of fighting in practice, the team will be playing with a hunger that's needed if they hope to earn a spot in the Super Bowl.
