Tennessee Titans star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons apologized Wednesday after his confrontation with radio host Buck Reising the day prior.

"That's not who I am. That's not who I want to be seen as," Simmons told reporters. "... At the end of the day, I take full accountability of my actions on the field. ... It will never happen again."

Had a great chat with Jeff. All good on both sides. Enough with the side shows. Play ball. https://t.co/GRYujDzl9u

Simmons appeared to take issue with social media posts from Reising and approached him following Tuesday's practice. Reising was on the air and about to interview cornerback Roger McCreary.

It's unclear what posts set off Simmons in particular, though Reising did write the following on Tuesday:

Simmons just swung at Latham after some pushing a shoving…refs said 98 would have been tossed in game. He's back in for the next two and immediately starts a brawl. Sloppy. Simmons needs to lock tf in

Simmons, 27, is a team captain for the Titans and the highest-paid player on the team in average annual salary after signing a four-year, $94 million contract extension ahead of the 2023 season (though Harold Landry has the biggest cap hit this season at $23.8 million).

He's also been excellent for the team in his career, with 16 sacks between the 2021-22 seasons, though injuries limited him to 12 games and 5.5 sacks last year.
