Simone Biles in Awe of GOAT Praise After Winning 6th Olympic Gold Medal in Gymnastics

Despite making history on Thursday by winning her sixth gymnastics gold medal in the Olympics, Simone Biles is still surprised to be in the discussion for the Greatest of All Time title.

"It is crazy that I am in the conversation of 'Greatest of all athletes' because I just still think, 'I'm Simone Biles from Spring, Texas who loves to flip,'" Biles said, via the Associated Press (h/t ESPN).

After her victory in the all-around women's final, the 27-year-old showed off a goat chain underneath her gold medal.

She also received praise from her fellow U.S. athletes, as the men's basketball team showed up to watch Thursday's final. Kevin Durant also referred to Biles as the GOAT in a post on X during her performance.

She became the first woman to win the all-around individual gold twice since Věra Čáslavská in 1968. Biles is also the oldest woman to win gold in the event since 1952.

She started strong on Thursday with her signature Yurchenko double pike vault, although she wrapped up a relatively disappointing performance on the uneven bars that put her out of first place through two rotations.

Biles bounced back with an impressive 14.566 score on the balance beam before she cemented the win by thriving during her floor routine.

After her latest victory as well as her gold medal in Tuesday's team final, she now has nine total Olympic medals and is the most decorated U.S. gymnast of all time at the Games. Biles will have a chance to add to her collection during upcoming finals for floor, vault, and balance beam.
