Brown and the U.S. finished with a time of 3:07.42, knocking off the previous world record of 3:08.80. The previous Olympic record time was 3:09.87.

France finished second in the heat with a national record time of 3:10.60 while Belgium finished third with a national record time of 3:10.74.

The full relay team consisted of Brown, Vernon Norwood, Shamier Little and Bryce Deadmon. The previous world record had been set by the U.S. at the 2023 World Championships in Hungary, while the previous Olympic record had been set during the 2020 Summer Olympics by Poland.

The time catapulted the U.S. into the final, where a gold medal will be on the line. It will be joined by France, Belgium, Great Britain, Italy and the Netherlands on Saturday.

In that race, the Americans will look to claim gold in the event for the first time.
