Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of WWE SmackDown on August 9.

After Roman Reigns made his triumphant return at SummerSlam, he made his way back to the blue brand this week to settle some family business.

Here is a look at what WWE advertised for Friday's show:

    • Reigns returns to SmackDown
    • LA Knight celebrates winning U.S. title
    • Andrade vs. Santos Escobar
    • DIY vs. Pretty Deadly

Let's take a look at what happened on this week's SmackDown.

A-Town Down vs. Street Profits

1 of 5

Cody Rhodes came out to start the show and was greeted by a raucous crowd. He said all eyes are on what happens after SummerSlam and he has been thinking about who his challenger will be at Bash in Berlin. That is when Solo Sikoa's music hit.

He was flanked by Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa. Kevin Owens arrived with chairs to provide backup. The American Nightmare ended up offering KO a title shot. After they ended their segment, A-Town Down made its entrance for the first match against The Street Profits.

This was to determine who would face the winners of DIY vs. Pretty Deadly later in the show. Angelo Dawkins was double-teamed early on to put Austin Theory and Grayson Waller in the driver's seat. Montez Ford turned it around with a big dive over the top rope to send us into a break.

After a solid performance from both teams, the Profits claimed victory. This bout won't stand out against everything you have seen this week, but it was fun and had the crowd pumped. Ford and Dawkins are stars and it's great to see them winning again.

Result: The Profits defeated A-Town Down Under

    Grade: B

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Tama was a few seconds late coming out for his entrance for some reason.
    • It was nice to see B-Fab get a little mic time.
    • Ford's plancha looked awesome and the way he posed after made him look like a badass.

Jade Cargill vs. Alba Fyre

Jade Cargill had a chance to get a little revenge this week when she took on Alba Fyre in singles action. Bianca Belair and Isla Dawn were in their respective partner's corners.

Fyre was aggressive but Cargill kept finding ways to overpower him and ended up winning in a relatively quick fashion with Jaded.

It's a strange booking decision to have an active champion lose so quickly. Cargill has improved significantly, so there is no reason for WWE to give her such short matches.

Blair Davenport and Naomi both showed up for a post-match brawl that ended in the babyfaces driving the heels out of the ring.

    Result: Cargille defeated Fyre

    Grade: C-

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Fyre's entrance music is perfect for her character.
    • Naomi consistently looks cooler than everyone around her.

Andrade vs. Santos Escobar

Knight came to the ring to celebrate winning the United States Championship. The crowd chanted "You deserve it," as he bragged about stomping Logan Paul to beat him.

Escobar came out and sarcastically congratulated Knight on his victory. This led to Andrade coming out for their No. 1 Contender's match.

These two have had a handful of encounters since El Idolo returned at the Royal Rumble, but this was their first singles match in WWE.

Baron Corbin and Apollo Crews attacked Angel and Berto and drove them away from the ring, giving Andrade a better chance in the process.

We missed a few minutes in the beginning because WWE started it during a break, and there was a second break in the middle, but that gave them a long time to make sure this didn't feel rushed.

Escobar and Andrade are masters of their craft, so not only can they put on a great performance, but it feels like they would actually have to TRY to have a bad match.

Carmelo Hayes interfered but was knocked off the apron by Andrade, but he was still able to help Escobar avoid a double knee in the corner so he could steal a win with a rollup.

This was a fantastic match, but two different instances of interference were a bit much.

    Result: B+

    Grade: Escobar defeated Andrade

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Escobar should get more mic time. He's got charisma but it feels like WWE never lets him show it.
    • We got a video package for Giovanni Vinci's return.
    • Andrade is one of the smoothest performers working today. Even if he makes a mistake, he always makes it look intentional or finds a way to cover it up.
    • Escobar's poison rana looked amazing. Andrade sold it perfectly.

Pretty Deadly vs. DIY

Kit Walker and Elton Prince took on Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano with the winners taking on the Street Profits in a No. 1 Contender's match next week.

They immediately turned this into a fast-paced encounter that had Pretty Deadly in control as the show cut to a break.

Sadly, the bout was over not long after we returned, so most of the action took place off screen. DIY picked up the win, so they will take on Ford and Dawkins for a shot at The Bloodline's tag titles.

    Result: DIY defeated Pretty Deadly

    Grade: C+

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Pretty Deadly being Wade Barrett's favorite act is hilarious.
    • Prince and Walker are deceptively large men.

The Final Word

5 of 5

The show ended with Sikoa calling out Reigns. The former champion arrived and took out Tama and Loa before squaring off with his cousin in the ring.

He beat up Sikoa but as he was picking up his ulafala, he was blindsided by the tag champs. He managed to take them out but Sikoa escaped with the necklace.

Friday's SmackDown had four matches and several promo and backstage segments. Most of what we saw dealt with SummerSlam fallout and setting up feuds for the next PPV in Berlin.

We got a new No. 1 contender to the U.S. title, two teams won matches to compete for a tag title shot, and Rhodes declared Owens to be worthy of a shot at the WWE Championship.

However, the thing most people will be talking about is the return of Reigns. After four months, fans were thrilled to see him back and ready to begin a second Bloodline Civil War.

Andrade and Escobar stole the show, so if you plan to watch the show on DVR and skip certain parts, make sure to watch that whole match.

    Grade: B-
