Video: Nikola Jokić, Serbia Basketball Celebrate Olympic Bronze Medal on Team Bus
August 10, 2024
Nikola Jokić has won three NBA MVP awards and an NBA championship, but it can be argued he has never been happier than after leading Serbia to a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympics.
Jokić and the Serbian team were joyously celebrating their 93-83 win over Germany on Saturday by singing and dancing on the team bus.

After failing to qualify for the 2020 Olympics, Serbia returned to the field this year after finishing second at the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
Jokić took a hiatus from the Serbian team after the 2019 FIBA World Cup. He had a phenomenal tournament for his home country, leading all players in points, rebounds, assists and steals after the bronze-medal game.
Jokić also became the fourth player in Olympic history to record a triple-double. He finished with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists in 38 minutes against Germany. The 29-year-old finished one assist shy of a triple-double two other times in the tournament.
In total, Jokić averaged 18.8 points, 10.7 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game in six starts during the 2024 Olympics.
Serbia is currently the No. 4 team in the FIBA world rankings. It could be argued this group has been the second-best in the Olympics behind the United States, but because of how the brackets lined up those two teams squared off in the semifinal.
Team USA had to overcome a 17-point deficit against Serbia in the semifinal. It would have been the first time the U.S. lost in the knockout round of the Olympics since 2004 and just its second loss in Olympic play dating back to 2008.
Serbia has medaled in two of the last three Olympics, winning a silver in 2016. It's the third time the Serbians have won a medal since 1992.
