Team USA leveled the gold medal race at 40 with a win in the final event of the Paris Games.

The Americans battled to the final second with France in the women's basketball gold medal game.

Both teams played incredible defense and Team USA only pulled away late in the fourth quarter.

France had a chance to tie the game with the last shot, but Gabby Williams' final shot was inside the three-point line.

Prior to the gold medal game, Jennifer Valente took home gold in the women's omnium event in track cycling.

Valente defended her gold medal in the omnium and added to her gold medal haul in Paris. She also took first place in the team pursuit.

The two wins finished off a successful Paris Games for Team USA in which it tied for the gold medal lead and won the overall medal table.
