Scottie Scheffler Earns $8M; Comcast Business Tour Top 10 to Split $40M Prize Money
August 12, 2024
Scottie Scheffler padded his already sizable earnings from the 2024 PGA Tour season by finishing atop the Comcast Business Tour Top 10.
The two-time Masters champion received $8 million from the $40 million bonus pool as a result.
"It's been an incredible year for me both on and off the course, so to finish up the regular season by earning the top spot in the Comcast Business Tour Top 10 is an honor," he said. "Every year I try to perform and compete to the best of my abilities, so this award really represents the hard work put in throughout the course of the season with the support of my family and team."
The payouts are based on the regular-season FedExCup standings. Here's how each of the 10 highest finishers is compensated:
Comcast Business Tour Bonus Earnings
1. Scottie Scheffer ($8 million)
2. Xander Schauffele ($6 million)
3. Rory McIlroy ($4.8 million)
4. Collin Morikawa ($4.4 million)
5. Wyndham Clark ($4 million)
6. Ludvig Åberg ($3.4 million)
7. Sahith Theegala ($2.8 million)
8. Hideki Matsuyama ($2.4 million)
9. Sungjae Im ($2.2 million)
10. Shane Lowry ($2 million)
Scheffler has been far and away the most dominant player on the PGA Tour this season. Golf Digest's Joel Beall noted how he was assured of his $8 million bonus before the Wyndham Championship teed off.
The 28-year-old has six wins and 14 top-10 finishes in 2024, and he picked his spots well. In addition to the Masters and Players Championship, he claimed victory in four other "signature" events (Travelers Championship, Memorial Tournament, RBC Heritage and Arnold Palmer Invitational).
While it didn't count toward his FedExCup points tally, Scheffler added another feather to his cap by claiming gold in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
The season isn't over, either. The FedEx St. Jude Championship, BMW Championship and Tour Championship are still to come as part of the FedExCup playoffs. The first two events each boast $20 million purses, and the winner of the FedExCup will take home $25 million.
Scheffler in all likelihood will be giving his accountant more reasons to smile in the weeks ahead.
