Anthony Edwards: Alley-Oop Dunk from Kevin Durant 'Was the Best Feeling of My Life'
August 20, 2024
The Paris Olympics were special for Minnesota Timberwolves star guard Anthony Edwards for a multitude of reasons.
Not only did Edwards win his first career Olympic gold medal and celebrate his 23rd birthday with a surprise party, but he also got to share the floor with his childhood idol, Kevin Durant. Edwards told Lane Florsheim of the Wall Street Journal that the standout moment for him in the Olympics was throwing down an alley-oop off a pass from Durant during the gold medal game against France.
"That was the best feeling of my life," Edwards said. "I told [Durant] I'd get that picture framed, put it in my office for sure."
Edwards took full advantage of the opportunity to play alongside Durant during their time together with Team USA. The two of them frequently partnered up for shooting drills and spent time together off the court. They even developed a signature handshake in their short time as teammates.
While Edwards and Durant developed a close bond in Paris, they actually have some unfinished business when the 2024-25 NBA season begins. Edwards and the Timberwolves swept Durant's Phoenix Suns out of the first round of the playoffs last season, so the 35-year-old will undoubtedly be motivated to get his revenge against his young counterpart this year.
