Jets' Win-Loss Predictions for 2024 NFL Season
Joe TanseyAugust 21, 2024Jets' Win-Loss Predictions for 2024 NFL Season

The New York Jets expect to be in a three-way fight for the AFC East title with the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins.
The Jets need to put themselves in position over the first three months of the 2024 NFL regular season to go head-to-head with the two top dogs in the division in December and January.
Robert Saleh's team faces the Bills and Dolphins three times in the final five weeks in what could be an incredible set of games to decide not just the AFC East, but a good part of the AFC playoff picture.
The Jets need to navigate some tricky parts of the schedule earlier in the season to be in a position to contend for a division title.
The first of those tricky matchups comes in Week 1 on Monday night against the San Francisco 49ers.
September

Week 1: at San Francisco
Week 2: at Tennessee
Week 3: vs. New England
Week 4: vs. Denver
Aaron Rodgers' strength will be put to the test immediately in Week 1 against the 49ers.
The 49ers defense will not hold anything back and that will test how the Jets protect Rodgers and how he moves off his Achilles injury.
Leaving Week 1 with a healthy Rodgers may be enough to satisfy Jets fans after last season's first-week injury.
A win is possible in San Francisco, but as long as Rodgers looks comfortable and the Jets play a close game, there will be positives coming out of that game.
The Jets can turn around and win three games in a row after the trip to California.
Tennessee, New England and Denver are all expected to be no higher than the middle of the pack in the AFC. All three may not contend for a playoff spot.
Playing on Monday in Week 1, Sunday in Week 2 and Thursday in Week 3 is not ideal, but at least the 49ers are the only truly tough opponent in September.
September Projected Record: 3-1
October

Week 5: vs. Minnesota (London)
Week 6: vs. Buffalo
Week 7: at Pittsburgh
Week 8: at New England
Week 9: vs. Houston
The Jets players and coaches should feel tired after their five-game October.
The month begins with a trip to London to face the Minnesota Vikings.
New York should be favored in that contest based on the quarterback matchup, but if Sam Darnold has a good hold on the Vikings offense by then, it could at least be a close game.
The Week 6 clash with Buffalo is the one the Jets should have circled. It will take place on a Monday night after a London trip.
It's not the ideal travel schedule before a clash with a divisional title rival, but at least the Jets have an extra day of rest before the Week 6 Monday night clash.
A 1-1 record from the Minnesota and Buffalo games is expected and then the Jets could roll off two wins in Pittsburgh and New England.
The Thursday night clash in Week 9 with the Texans could be tough on the Jets because of less-than-ideal October schedule and the matchup with Houston's fast-paced offense.
October could be important as a whole for tiebreakers, though. If the Jets are in the wild-card mix, they need to have an edge on at least one of Pittsburgh or Houston.
October Projected Record: 3-2
November

Week 10: at Arizona
Week 11: vs. Indianapolis
Week 12 Bye
November is by far the easiest month of the regular season for the Jets.
They visit the Arizona Cardinals on extended rest following their Thursday night clash with the Texans.
The mini bye should help the players reset before a two-game stretch in which the Jets must win both games to keep pace with their biggest rivals in the AFC East.
A win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 11 would create a ton of momentum going into the Week 12 bye.
A re-energized Jets team could emerge in December to push for the divisional crown, or at least one of the three wild-card spots.
November Projected Record: 2-0
December and January

Week 13: vs. Seattle
Week 14: at Miami
Week 15: at Jacksonville
Week 16: vs. Los Angeles Rams
Week 17: at Buffalo
Week 18: vs. Miami
There are two guaranteed wins against NFC West teams in the Jets' final six games.
Victories over the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams should push the Jets to the 10-win mark.
That would be an incredible mark compared to where the Jets were in December during last season's debacle.
The Jets will be playing for the division title if they reach nine wins before the Week 14 trip to south Florida.
The Jets realistically need to go 2-1 in their matchups with the Bills and Dolphins to have a shot at winning the division.
A 1-2 run in those games would not kill the Jets' playoff chances, but that may make the Week 15 visit to Jacksonville a must-win game.
Banking a road win over Jacksonville would be massive for the Jets' playoff standing, but it will be tough to achieve against a Jags team that should be in the wild-card mix as well.
The finish is brutal no matter which way you put it, so that means the Jets must get to nine, or even 10, wins by Week 14 so they have a cushion to fall back on in the playoff race.
December/January Projected Record: 3-3
Overall Record Projection: 11-6
