Video: Yankees' Aaron Judge Hits His 50th, 51st HRs of 2024 MLB Season; Wows Fans
August 25, 2024
Aaron Judge cannot be stopped.
The New York Yankees slugger continued his dominant season at the plate, hitting his 50th home run of the year during a Sunday matchup with the Colorado Rockies.
In the bottom of the first inning, Judge hit a two-run blast that traveled 431 feet off Rockies left-hander Austin Gomber.
The six-time All-Star is still in the midst of an extremely hot stretch at the plate, as he entered Sunday's action with five homers throughout his previous five games.
He wasn't done against Colorado, as he recorded his second home run of the day to extend New York's lead to 6-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Judge reached 50 home runs in a season for the third time in his career after achieving the milestone in 2017 and 2022. He joins Babe Ruth, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa and Alex Rodriguez as the only players with at least three 50-homer seasons (h/t USA Today's Bob Nightengale).
The 32-year-old also became the first player in MLB history to record 50 home runs, 120 RBIs, and 100 walks before the start of September.
Fans were amazed by his historic season following his latest accomplishment.

Judge is giving himself a strong chance to earn the second American League MVP honor of his career, as he's now hitting .333 with 30 doubles and 121 RBIs to go along with his 50 homers. His impressive 1.195 OPS is also the highest mark in the majors.
After becoming the fastest player in MLB history to reach 300 career home runs on Aug. 14, Judge has continued to showcase his power at the plate as he attempts to help the Yankees maintain their narrow lead over the Baltimore Orioles for the top spot in the AL East.
